@Kyliedog
So a game like Call of duty that took me 20 hours to plat is a 3 star but a game like Mag that took roughly 180 hours deserves the same? If you actually tried for the platnum you would know that theres more than just time needed to get this platnum considering you need to blow up 20 escort vehicles and there could be 10 other people trying to destroy the escort vehicle aswel or kill 15 people with a pistol in one match or even kill 15 people with a knife in one round.
Its well and good judging a game off the beta when no trophies are available but if you actually try getting some of the trophies you would know they sound easier to get than they actually are and also less than 1% of Mag players earned the platnum trophey for this game so what does that tell you.
Like Killzone 2 is a 4 star game and I had the platnum of that after 1 week. Do you think that deserves a 4 star because getting the platnum for that game was way easier than getting the one for MAG.

Some fair points. If PS3T would fix the flaws in its time estimates, or perhaps even introduce a voting system for time, perhaps people wouldn't feel the need to mix time into the rating. There are games that have guides with estimates of 20 hours to plat when it's literally impossible to do it in less than 35. It's weird. But the debate about time consuming vs. difficult will never end, and there are reasonable points on both sides of the debate. SvR = Smackdown vs. Raw? The thing is, PS3T rates RE5 as 5.56, and Smackdown as 3.86, which is another reason why Arcturus needs to move to a 10 star system (Hi Arcturus!). :) The phenomenon where there are no games rated 1 (and none rated 10, for that matter) will happen anywhere there is voting, for a number of reasons. The only solution is to curve the results. |
I agree that there are some ratings that are kind of iffy in the league right now (I agree about SvR being a 1 star, as I've heard people platting it in 2-3 days), but some games are such ridiculous timesinks, that they need higher ratings (I would think).

Are you guys referring to WWE SmackDown vs RAW 2010? If so, it looks like the average rating has dropped quite a bit since I last took a look.
Confirmed...
My friend should buy the Move for me in early October in Portugal.
______________
OHHHHHHHH I lost one position on rank.

Somehow i doubt this really.

MAG difficulty varies depending on faction too due to map design, but you need play all 3 factions for the plat anyway. 15 pistol or knife kills isn't hard if you just use those weapons only and go out your way to hide and kill someone arming an objective and such.
The ratings are meant to reflect going for the plat as a priority, not what you get through general play. |
Well I'm with you on KZ2 as the only difficult part in KZ2s Elite is the end boss battle with Radec and even that only takes 4 or 5 retries to kill him. Like 1 headshot on elite kills most enemies.
Honestly mate every single game is easily platnumed but some are more difficult because you need to put in more time. You could play a difficult game over and over again until you get past the level and the thing that got you past it was the fact that you put time into the game to get past the level.
Thats why time should be factored in. Its not like someone can hand you mag and a week later you've the platnum. These games are games that only a handful of the players will get. Take WKC. I played that game for 100 hours and gave up on the game. Even though the gameplay is easy the platnum is difficult to get because you need to put a lifetime into it to getting that plat and only a few will have it.

The average time for WKC, for the plat, seems to be around 450-550 hours (I had 517 hours clocked). It took me FOUR months, of just playing WKC, to get the plat. I don't recall getting a single other trophy in that whole four months, nor do I remember playing any other PS3 game during that time. Can you imagine playing the same game every single day (and I did) for four months straight?

Of course he can not as he resorts to boosting ( refer to his KZ2 comment) as soon as a task takes more than a little time
