Forums - Sony - VGChartz Playstation Trophy League

Just bought LBP and it is amazing. I got 28% of the trophies on the first day.

Finally got around to playing F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin.

The paranormal effects are extremely well done and overall I am enjoying the game very much. Too bad half of the trophies are online....god I hate online trophies.

I just wanted to touch base on your online trophies.

I find that some people get lazy and seem to just toss in some online trophies because they can't think of anything else to do, and then some people that have a perfect opportunity, don't do it.

For example I popped in Red Faction:G the other day to see what trophies I could get (seeing as I never finished the game) and I realize that half the trophies are online, so I jump online, and to my surprise I see 1 game with about 5 or 6 people in it.

This was done wrong, and they could have tossed SOOO many more trophies into the sandbox world that they made.

A missed opportunity would be MW2, say what you will about it, but it will ALWAYS have hundreds of thousands of people logged on 24/7 (millions during the day) and even though I haven't played the game in months, I would have kept playing if there was trophies.

So the long and short of it is, the game makers has to be smart (Ex: Rockstar, who still jumps on weekly to play online with everyone) and decide if their game is gonna have a lifespan online, if not, fuck off with the online trophies, if so, BRING 'EM ON !

Thanks for listening haha

First I dont know who said FF13 is 150 hours; the consensus is 80 - 120.

Second, by your arguments people would be penalized in this league for trying to platinum certain games, namely the likes of WKC and Star Ocean. The whole point of the star system is, if someone wished to go after games that take a bit longer to plat, their position on the plat leaderboards would take less of a hit. For some games, a single extra star doesn't do much. For up to maybe 80 - 100 hours, 1 additional star might be fine. For WKC, which is 500 hours, those 450 extra hours spent to plat should only be worth an extra star? When games like Terminator gets you that star in under 10 hours?

I realize really we're arguing semantics of the term "difficulty." But time is an obstacle. Hell, even getting a phd is no sweat if you're willing to put in the work into grades as an undergrad, then research as a grad.

As for the dead online communities argument... To change it now would be unfair for the people who got it under optimal conditions. I think the only time a rating should be changed because a game's difficulty suddenly changed is if the game got patched very shortly after release, like a week one patch that radically changes teh difficulty. Beyond that, precedence of previously earned trophies make changing the rating a bad idea.

Of course, if no one in the league's platted it yet, changing the rating then would be a trivial thing.

I thought the plat rating was so to not reward the people playing games like UP and Hannah Montanna non-stop.  Using examples like the Terminator games getting that extra star instead is flawed when you got some games like Smackdown vs Raw at 2 stars when you could probably plat that game using 1 hand (being serious) and in ~10-20 hours, if you are slow.  Yet that has the same plat rating as games like Uncharted 2 or Resident Evil 5 that will kill you repeatedly at some points and actually have a lot of challenge to them?  Are people platting RE5 and U2 being punished because they require so much more work and effort than Smackdown v Raw but get the same rating?  No.

Hardly fair for anyone who starts playing Resistance 2 to not get a 5 star for it if they are going to be spending a similar amount of time as someone playing WKC if thats a 5 star.  Keeping time as a solid factor like 1 star tops added after the chalanege makes examples like R2 better.  10k kills takes a long time in that game even when it was new and lots of people online, pretty sure that time was factored into the rating.  Now it takes much much longer that increased time doesn't need change the rating because time should equal 1 extra star always.

rating is determined by how time consuming and hard the game is after release, if the game isn't patched , rating isn't going to be changed,

Think a minute, what you are saying means we would change Madden 10 rating to 5 stars in 2 years when EA close the online servers because you can't get the online trophies anymore.

If you decide to wait 2 years to get the tropheis of an online game, too bad for you.......

And Resistance 2 10k kills doesn't compare to WKC even now, sorry. For starters you don't need any help to get that trophy ( and it isn't that time consuming really, all you have to do is mindlessly kill people online..)

Anyway i was just basing myself on the ratings on PS2trophies.org which we are using as reference for most of our ratings...

And the issue with Hannah Montan wasn't that's it's Hannah Montana, it was that you can plat the game in a few hours... In the end the difference between our 1 stars and our 2-3 stars isn't the difficulty, none of the 3 stars really are difficult, its' the time it takes to achieve the objectives...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

@Arcturus

Didn´t u forget to add Wagram as new platinum holder for Resonance of fate?

How many people are going to invest the 500 or so hours to even get close to the WKC plat? How many people are willing to sit through the boredom of grinding the same quests for hours on end just to hope an item with a 0.5-1% chance drops? Don't forget that once you get to Guild Rank 8+, it's going to be hard to solo (pretty much nigh impossible) any quests, except for maybe a handful.

There are plenty of games that have 4 stars that just take a long time. There's nothing real difficult in Disgaea 3, but it does take a long time (and a big grind) to build your characters up enough to tackle the end-game stuff. Sacred 2 is another game that isn't inherently hard, but has a long grind time to get yourself through the difficulty levels (which can be bypassed pretty easily from what I understand).

For Resistance 2, let's say you averaged 100 kills an hour. That means it would take you something like 100 hours to get the 10k kills trophy. It isn't necessarily hard (it does take some skill), it's definitely time-consuming. You don't need help, though, as it's pretty much every man for himself (since Deathmatch is one of the easiest ways to rack up your kills in a time efficient manner). For WKC, you're going to need to rely on other people, and even then, you're going going to complete every quest (I failed on one the other day, despite being in a group with two good people). You're going to be paired with random people sometimes who are complete idiots (your friends won't be on all the time), like people attacking an ice dragon with an ice based weapon, or melee characters casting elemental magic spells on something when they could easily outdamage it with their sword.

It's not showing up under his trophy details.

BFBC2 singleplayer is short. Online is fun as hell though.. Just got the game last Friday(but internet was down two days) and I am just beastin on it... Yet to break 53 kills but thats been my best so far

I think Hardcore is more realistic. On regular, it takes two shots from a bolt action rifle to kill someone(unless a headshot) and in reality a rifle bullet would kill one shot. Plus I hate how it shows where u are after u kill someone on regular.

I'd feel that a easy game isn't 5 stars.

1000 hours? Yeah I'm going to go claim that as complete bollocks, much like FF XIII being a 150 hour plat when it didn't take me half that time. Didn't exactly try for the platinum requirements strictly either, only started that after I beat main game and upgraded a few weapons to max (which is not needed for platinum but the funds used to do it subtracts from platinum needs heavily).

I wasn't saying WKC is 1000 hours... just more of a general statement... If you played something for 1000 hours and got a 1 star platinum, most people would feel pretty gipped.
