Forums - Sales - 0 support for developers?

So am I showing 0 support to the people responsible for creating my favorite games when I use the "Keep It" function and buy my games from Gamefly?  Or does the consumption of the game cause Gamefly to replenish their supply?  Or do I worry too much and should just buy my games at the best prices possible?  help

0 support, unless it's bleeding-edge new.

The first week a game is released, there's massive demand and Gamefly purchases a ton of copies. After that initial surge, the game is forgotten by most users, and there is no need to buy more copies ever again.  There are a few cases where a game rises in popularity, or retains popularity for a long period of time and they will need to replenish, but they're not the norm.

As for the morality of buying used games, that's a question better left to your priest/rabbi/philosophy professor.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

I was kinda interested to hear some fellow VG Charts member's philosophies on buying used games.

Buy whatever you want, at the price you are willing to.

Buy used games if the game is OK. Buy new if it's great, and support the developer making more quality sequels.

As for buying from GameFly - That's a tough one. On one hand, they support a lot of smaller developers by buying copies of lesser-known titles (my Blockbuster is the only place I can find copies of Earth Defense Force 2017), so it's not all bad. They are buying copies from developers too.

Just ask yourself "Do I want a sequel of this game bad enough to pay retail?"

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'm a jerk, I buy used whenever possible. Movies and games.

They buy thousands (sometimes 10s of thousands) and sometimes demand is really high (Too Human) so they buy more and later when the demand dies down they sell them. So really it's better then gamestop, but not as good as getting it at retail. It's in the middle IMO

I like Mr. Stickball's advice. ask yourself - do you want a sequel bad enough to pay retail?

Whats really odd is I have no problem pirating music , movies, TV shows but with video games I have a strong desire to support the people making the games I love.

Lower price, less consumption.

I'm proud to buy used games.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
