The first week a game is released, there's massive demand and Gamefly purchases a ton of copies. After that initial surge, the game is forgotten by most users, and there is no need to buy more copies ever again. There are a few cases where a game rises in popularity, or retains popularity for a long period of time and they will need to replenish, but they're not the norm.
As for the morality of buying used games, that's a question better left to your priest/rabbi/philosophy professor.
