I suspect the reason why many areas of the game required players to repeat a 10-15 minute section of the game every time they died was to prolong the play length of the short campaign. Clever, no? It does get pretty annoying after the 3rd or 4th repeat in a row though.

Yep, I was stuck on the latter half of act 4 on hardcore difficulty, which should really be the hard mode, especially as I cannot be seen playing a game on casual difficulty!. I appriechiate that they are adding a normal mode for the next game (I wont use it.... I want achievements!). The next one is meant to be longer, which will be good
I agree, totally overrated and not even that good.

- can't comment on voice acting (I have the German language game which I think has a very good voice acting)
- Controls are very easy (Ever played some TPS's in your life ?)
- Weapon selection is decent. Nothing too special (or unnecessary), but an assault rifle with a chainsaw ??? Now THAT's cool
- singleplayer campaign has a great dark atmosphere with many scripted things going on and many varied parts in the levels. Biggest plus: Co-op = AWESOME
- AI is pretty good. You must search for cover or the enemies will kill you immediately
- Cole Train suits perfect with the other characters
Great game...OP is gonna get beat with a wooden bat by gears fans as they clearly outnumber his kind.
The voice acting was believable for their looks, but it wasn't that good. You guys give it too much credit. Cole Trane is a super stereotype and that was...dumb. His "MEATLOAF" line is funny though.
The campaign is like 6 hours and has EASY parts and frustratingly clouded hard parts. Some enemies are just placed to die quickly sometimes (A while after the resonator broke and you have to split up w/ Seekers flying and all that Hammer of Daen JAZZ).
The game is fun, but the controls aren't perfect. Sometimes covering is bonkers but not too often. There is some pop-in during multiplayer and Live does lag...but w/e
Gears of War is still a 9.0/10 in my book. But saying it has the best shooting controls ever is just Blind fanboyism.
