I can play with paper, therefore its a toy, I can play with clay, therefore its a toy, I can play with a pencil therefore its a toy, I can play with my d#ck therefore its a toy.

ur theory is not logical.

You can't put videogame systems in two different sub-categories just as you see fit.

They're both toys.

They're both toys in the "videogame" part of being a toy.

Fair enough?

then i think that the wii is more along the lines of a square peg square hole type toy and other consoles are more of like a video game system type toy.

exaggeration. the other consoles are more of a legos type toy to a squarepeg and hole type toy. IMO

gnizmo i think the problem, honestly and without hurting anyones feelings is that most people in here have differing opinions on what is a toy.
so when i respond in one way to one person so that they would understand, it conflicted with someone elses understanding.
so then when i put it into an idea that the new guy could understand it conlicted again.
basically my whole point is that i think the wii is going to be moving more and more towards this "no point" type game like wii music, although while still maintaining core games.
i think they should be working on more innovative core games instead of focusing so much on casual games. there are too many new casual games, and not enough new core games, which by nature someone is going to disagree with what constitues a core game, so really by answering your question, i am opening myself up to other debates and now you understand this is never ending........
no i do not think anything is a toy.
i just think that the console itself is chasing casuals rather than core gamers. if this is incorrect please correct me, but it seems to be a very sound argument if you ask me.

You seem to confuse casual friendly with neglecting the core user. Core users are in for a bit of a dry spell currently, but there is still plenty of games out now, and a good number coming out designed for them. Just because it is expanding its audience does not mean it has to lose core games. That is a false dichotomy.

Nu uh! My toy is way better than your toy!

Whichever terms you feel are most derogatory towards the wii. Your opinion on "what is" and "what isn't" a toy stopped mattering long time ago anyway.

but you do admit that there is a dry spell right?
it's not that core games are not coming out, but it kinda sucks when it's like
the new mario
the new metroid
the new (old franchise)

not enough effort into "new" core games. even with the new core games they have,... they are not any good lol.
of course the core games will always exist because there is a market. I'm not saying they don't have core games, but that they don't have enough, and yes they are being neglected, except for new iterations of old franchise games.

my post count isa higher than you two guys. you should post more material that contributes nothing to the topic.
ps: at least i'm trying to make a fair point here.

you seem to think that video games are toys, miyamoto thinks there is a difference. apparently you should act as rude to him as you are to me.

you should've said that in your OP and saved us a lot of run around lol.

wii music will probably sell well, that does not change the fact that there are wii games for the hardcore also, it might not be games you might like but i have atleast 20 upcoming wii games in my radar right now, and non of them is wii music or house party or whatever names they are giving casual games these days, it is just probably that wii is not for you but there are gamers who like the wii for what it is.

The topic is nothing to begin with.

its a tool

i had no intention of saying that the wii was a bad system. In fact i carefully put IMO and "i think that" because i am not trying to offend anyone, but yet people get defensive because IMHO wii is more of a toy than are the other consoles.

PS: i don't think many people read OPs anyway cougar. i think people read the topic line and go off of that, so i will be careful in the future to avoid "eye-catching" headlines in the hope that people who come in under the heading of a more bland subject line will actually read the post.

shoot somebody distinctly changed words in a post and said "ha that's stupid" when i never wrote it......
