Forums - Sony - PS3 DRM - Only redownload movies once

@Gebx - What is the DRM policy for the 360? The PS3 policy for movies seems fair, and the policy for downloadable games is definately in the consumers favor. I am interested in what MS is doing differently.

Edit: I just read that you can't buy movies on Xbox Live.  Is that true?

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Before someone decides that I would look better toasted, this is an honest question without the intention of smearing Sony. Is it possible that Sony needs to keep bandwidth demands low due to the fact that they don't charge users for the accessing PSN?

Wow, I used to think you were one of the good guys Gebx. Please stop this nonsense.

160GB HDD, no problem. Thank god Sony made it so easy to swap harddrives, unlike other companies that will remain unmentioned....

I guess thats an advantage and a disadvantage. The reason why such DRM's are in place is exactly because you can swap HDDs so easily.

BTW, you must really hate MS that you can't even mention them by name

Wow you're dumb, I didn't mention them by name in an attempt to be polite and not upset you. And can you prove that the swappable harddrive is the cause of this?

It's most likely just pressure on Sony from movie studios, because as everyone knows, this is the age of DRM.

Of course its cause of movie studios...btw Sony is also a movie studio

I figure the reason why Sony only lets people download movies once is because you can swap harddrive so easily. Look at Disolitude's thread its a perfect example.

Ok, I can't find anything to suggest that this isn't true...so what exactly is everyone upset at Gebx for? His post involves an article and then a small, reasonable, comment based on that article.

Don't shoot the messenger folks (or at least wait until he screws up).

PS - Taking pot-shots at Gebx because you don't like the story or his posting history is NOT OK. I've already PM'd those doing so before this posting in lieu of official warnings (being nice), but from here on out it will get you a warning for trolling the thread. If you have a problem with a post you can report it, vigilantism is not the way to handle things.

PPS - Those who still have a problem with this thread I encourage you to re-read the OP and try not to see red.  The post truly isn't worth getting upset over.  But if you're still seeing red feel free to appeal to Naz.

I think most people hack on the thread creator because he apparently has a anti-sony history and it is quite "convenient" that he posts this to point the finger at sony.

If he would've made it an overview of xbox - ps3 (- wii) then most complaints would be unfounded. Even if he merely posted an article for the sake of the article, his history DOES colour the thread instantly.

That's why I guess many people comment on it.
