Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 DRM - Only redownload movies once

http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/09/22/drm-movies-bought-from-ps3-online-service-can-only-be-re-downloaded-once/

An Ars Technica reader deleted a movie from his PS3’s hard drive in order to free up some space. When he went to re-downloaded the movie, he discovered that he couldn’t. A phone call to Sony eventually fixed the problem, but with a sobering warning: users are only allowed once such re-download per account. If, for whatever reason, the user in question deleted the movie again, he wouldn’t be able to re-download it again. One and done.

If you buy a Movie, make sure you keep track of how many times you've deleted it. Delete it twice and you've lost your movie

Ahhh... Gebx

First to download some anti-Sony news eh?

Good to see that things will never change around here.

Hmm, sounds pretty Dumb, but if you value your rich downloads you'd keep them secure, it's pretty easy to back up Data with the PS3.

whats funny 360 drm its actually worse.

its locked to the console if rrod, and you will have problems to tranfer them.

The reason it works this way is probably due to massive trade-in happening on PSN downloaded games.

Sony can't afford to have a system with easy pirating of movies or they would get in trouble with movie studios and probably would not be able to offer as many movies for download...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I don't have a problem with this at all, actually. Like Jessman said, it's very easy to backup your files on your PS3..as a matter of fact, all you really need is another PC hooked up to your network and you should be able to just copy the movie out without having to hook up another storage device. If you use more than 2, you're probably trying to share with someone who didn't pay or in some way take advantage of Sony. In that case, you should have to pay again.

I don't have a problem with the 5 downloads per PSN game either to be very honest. We've had people make threads to collaborate on sharing the games. If anyone ever reaches their 5 downloads and complains that they can't again, they don't deserve the game.

Actually it was fixed back in June, and this isn't a flaw but a choice by Sony Corporate

yawn.

Funny, the only reason y this can be considered a "flaw" or a "problem" is because Sony allows u to re-download a game 5 times. If they didn't have that, it wouldn't be a problem and wouldn't be used as Anti-Sony news in forums.

It's considered a problem because Gebx found it..
