Forums - Sony - First patch for LBP announced already...

@vlad

I think you've been mistaken on how long they have been working it, so its obviously not rushed dumbass.

^Obviously you don't understand that a games development time is not an indication of how complete/polished a game is, "dumbass". Look at Too Human and S.T.A.L.K.E.R, not exactly rushed to the market were they? but they felt rushed didn't they?

I actually agree with vlad, not specifically with LBP, more to the fact that these days, it's patches to fix this patches to fix that.

For one it makes it hard to decide on how which games to purchase (and in turn how games are reviewed) because a average game might get an awesome patch to make it into a great game or a terrible game into something "playable" (i.e Lair).

Of course there are tiny un-foreseen things and I'm thankful that patches are available to fix those issues, but when a developer starts saying "oh don't worry, we can fix that later with a patch, launch the game" I think there's something wrong with the industry (I'm not saying LBP developers said that, but in general).

Can't wait for LBP though.

Is 4 player coop online not available at all, or just the create mode? Or are those two the same.

And do the main missions have online coop or will that also be patched later on?

They were talking solely about the create mode. My assumption is that you can still play online through any level you choose with friends, you just can't make a level together online. You'll have to meet them in person to do that until the patch.

@Vlad

I don't disagree with your ideas about this being in general a bad practice.  I do however disagree with your assesment of how pivotal this feature is.  It is just a minor part of the game that most probably wouldn't use due to the difficulty of making a level with people that you can't directly talk with.  They could've cut it out entirely and I wouldn't bat an eye, but that's not the case, so I definitely see the feature's delay as a minor issue.

...

I'm much more excited about offline 4-player create mode than online. That way if one of my friends does something retarded, I can smack him instead of yelling at him!

Sony doesn't care about the Amish gamers. They don't have high-speed internet connections.

Wow. I had no idea they were planning to give us 4 player online create mode. That's an interesting, but hardly essential feature. I'm glad they are already working on free dlc.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I thought this game had voice chat(and the sackboys are supposed to try to lipsync), if not then fuck the patch(what good is creating co-op if you can't communicate) and this game.  This thread is making me very worried.

It has voice-chat with sackboy lipsyncing.

Thanks that's good to know. It simply seemed like a lot of my reasons for wanting the game were slowly being stripped away.

My thought's exactly. I'd rather co-op on the couch creating a level. Online seems like a pain in the ass and a clutter fuck of a bunch of people doing what they want and not grasping others ideas while creating. Much easier to explain and understand things face to face.
