Forums - Sales Discussion - x360 in JAPAN ..... a real shame for next gen

Every unit they sell in Japan helps MS out. All they need is a couple of "real" hits, and Japan could turn for them. For a company where profit is (almost) irrelevant, there is no reason for MS / 360 to leave Japan. (and as for the PSP - if it wasn't for the DS, the PSP would be viewed as an extremely successful handheld. Its just that the DS is spanking it that is skewing the media). (Note - it will be of concern though, that the 360 is now tracking behind where the Xbox1 was tracking. MS had it easy for an entire year - no competition - this is where things get hard).

But they will want, to a larger degree, a 400pound ps3? You mention the drought and waiting on motorstorm and VF5. Lets look at Japan, of which you like to point at. Motorstorm -- 10 weeks out 50,250 units. VF5 -- 2 weeks out 62,750 units. (on track to barely match Blue Dragon) Yep. Better watch out. Hell just for comparison sake Blue Dragon -- 11 weeks out 138.000 units Lost planet -- 9 weeks out 59,000 units Wow, so a system with half the install base sold more units... Now lets look at the wiik little wii's non HD bluray having self. Wii Sports -- 12 weeks 1m+ units Wii Play -- 12 weeks just under 1m units. idiot.

VF5 is a port of an arcade game. Blue Dragon was in development for well over a year, and had a huge promotional campaign that failed miserably. Mistwalker have already hinted that Blue Dragon 2 won't be on XBOX 360, for obvious reasons.

SAGAGUCHI and CAPCOM both lost millions on BD/LOST PLANET. i feel real sorry for LP.......had a marketing budget of 6 million solely for JAPAN........it failed big time . The profits that CAPCOM made in US and parts of Europe were all nullified due to the huge losses incurred by the JAPANESE versions

It doesn't help that the 360 has a poor "reliability" image with their hardware, something that the Japanese are sticklers for.

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

MistWalker 4teh PS3 4life... no... not really but... :P That's a funny thought. For those of you who have or have been close to a 360 at HOME... you know how loud they are. Get in a 8x8 room... and turn that on... Turn your TV louder than the 360, and your neighbor complains. One reason to NOT get a 360. :)

Yes, because all that matters is how loud a console is, or how large it is. Games dont matter

OMG I can't believe how much garbage is on this post.... Lost Planet is the number one ranked selling game worldwide! You said that it lost millions because of the huge losses incurred by the JAPANESE versions. That's plain retarded, they know exactly how many 360's are on the market in Japan, they wouldn't make a Japanese version if they knew that they would lose money. As for BD, it hasn't been released in NA or Europe. Don't Japanese games have a bigger fan base in europe? Microsoft isn't going to quit in Japan because it barely cost them anything. They ship 2 million units to Japan, let them sit in a storage room, ship 3000 a week to whatever retailer. They're not worried. Microsoft will keep pumping JRPG exclusives in the Japanese market till they find the next FF. Next JRPG exclusive for the 360 - Trusty Bells aka. Eternal Sonata, coming out in Japan in June.
