Not very long. IU has dropped down to 10k according to the preview.

there is a plathora of games that new 360 system owners have to look forward to.
it's because it had a price drop + it had been sold out in japan for two weeks for some reason lol. + infinite undiscovery (the opposite name of final fantasy)
and voila.

That is a good one for a change.
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
It wasn't just a price cut and Infinite undiscovery. There was also a restocking by microsoft. If you remember, they were sold out in most the country, and the restock was on 9/11.
Combine preorders with IU and a price cut, and they got good sales.

For some reason = Tales of Vesperia

The full answer (which was finally given by Darc and a few others):
1) Infinite Undiscovery sold 90,000 copies o/w in Japan.
2) Major price cut. Arcade is under 20,000 yen
3) Re-stocking of X360. X360 was at 1,000 units the week before
4) Introduction of new 60GB Premium models.
From my understanding, the X360 sold out in some areas (again). The Source says the X360 did 10k-18k this week...But he also said it'd sell that much last week too. So who knows?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
