Forums - Gaming - Sad Nintendo Wii Owner :( Should I trade it in ? Help me make up my mind...

Hey guys, my friend is going to bring his PS3 over and we're going to try it on my monitor. He's going on a mission trip so he's letting me borrow it for the week :).

List of games you might want here.

Who buys a console only for first party games? There's something called third parties. Look into them.

Agreed with Soriku. Look at that list if you dont like ANY of the games their than youre just being difficult and screw it do what you want and get a PS3.=\

Its a Westinghouse we bought not too long ago, it is newer I think, I'll resarch it though. I t would be really cool if it did play Ps3 games in highdefintion.

If it's the same Westinghouse that my brother-in-law has then no it will not output HD over the component connections.  I don't know why that is but I know for a fact we tried using component connections for a LAN on one of those monitors and no matter what settings we used on the system it would only do 480p.  It will however do HD over VGA connection.  You can buy one of those cables for about $20.

It's honestly not that bad playing on a computer monitor.  I used my 360 on a 22" LG for a few months before I bought my HDTV.  When people say it's almost unplayable on SD it's because things like text and some icons are very hard to read when the game is output on SDTV.

People play PC games on monitors all the time and they're supposedly superior to consoles anyway :X

Don't buy a PS3 until you get an HDTV. Some games are unplayable in SD.

As much as my Sony-fan genes tell me to recommend that you buy it, don't. Not at the expense of another system - you will surely regret it.

Unplayable? What do u mean unplayable? You cant use SD tube tv or something. Doesn't it downscale?

Munkeh and greenmedic explained it best

I was going to call bullshit, but I guess you have a point. MK Wii and Galaxy were both huge disappointments for me. Zelda TP was good as any Zelda and Brawl was awesome. I guess its possible you didn't like any, but you are igrnoing alot of games, like Super Paper Mario and Fire Emlbem Radiant Dawn and Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the new World and Little King's Story and Pikmin 3 and the Kirby, Starfox, Mario and Zelda games that are sure to come in the future. If you only like Zelda/Mario/Smash/Mario Kart and found all 4 to be the same as the old ones (BTW SMG is nothing like SMS or SM64 so its really not the same at all- though I did like it alot worse than SMS) then I would sell your Wii and buy another system. I kept my Wii and bought a 360 in addition, because I loved Rare games in the N64 era and I love the tales series and oblivion and some other multiplats looked better on 360 and because my friends have 360 and because I think 360 controller is the best and because 360 has better arcade games.

However, PS3 has some super sweet games too- LBP, Disgaea 3, Valkeryie of the battlfield, white knight chronicles, MGS4, Motorstorm and Warhawk and Heavenly Sword and Uncharted, and lots of great multiplats like prince of persia and fallout 3 and soul calibur 4 and Devil may cry 4 and burnout paradise ect.

I would say to keep your Wii for future Ninty games and get a PSP 3000. That has alot of Nintendo stylish games you will like at a cheap price.
Patapon is about $15 on amazon. Same for Loco Roco. In fact pretty much all PSP games can be bought for $10-$30 unless new.

If you're a Nintendo fan I'd say you wait untill after the Nintendo conference on October 2nd and TGS.

Its not that I don't like games on that list, but the idea of Resident Evil 5, Uncharted Drake's Fortune, Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, Street Fighter IV, and Residvent Evil 5 are too much to pass up.  There's a ton of really cool stuff coming out PS3 as well :(.  I don't HATE nintendo, i still have my ds and am probably gonna pick up a cheap gamecube.

Just keep it, games are still coming for it, give it time.

I suggest keep it. Gen another system if you like. If after having both systems for 6 months you still feel that way, then sell it. Otherwise, you will likely just regret selling it.

I never recommend selling a console because you're only going to regret it later.

Here are some games you might like to try:

  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption - I hate the MP and MP2 but I loved this game.  The controls were just fantastic and it's probably the best controlled FPS on a console.
  • Zack & Wiki - My favorite game on the Wii.  The puzzles are just awesome and you'll just love this game.
  • No More Heroes - If you're looking for something different, this is it.
  • Boom Blox - If you think Little Big Planet might be a game for you, give this game a go.  It really is a pretty awesome game.
  • Samba de Amigo - It's should be out this week and it's really a fun game in the same way Guitar Hero is fun.
  • Guitar Hero III - Speaking of Guitar Hero, give this game a go.  If you haven't been burned out on the first two you might just like this one.
  • Resident Evil 4 - One of the best games ever only got better with Wii controls
  • Okami - While the Wii controls don't do a lot for the game, it's still an amazing game especially if you like Zelda games.
  • Excite Truck - Fun quick game to this day I can still play and have a ball with 10-15 minutes at a time when I need a quick pick-me-up.
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids - Don't get both of them, just one is all you need.  The humor in this game is amazing and even better if you have friends to play with.

Also, I don't know where your friends are getting their info but Little Big Planet is nothing like Super Mario World.  The only thing they have in common is that they are both platformers.
