Forums - Sony - Yahoo recognizes that the PS3 is in trouble

Why didn't the focus on the Wii' other successes instead of the shortages? Haven't they been aware of the low sales in America several weeks ago? Ninty is stockpiing for a huge holiday. The PS3 got bashed hard in that article and they didn't go over what it had for the holidays. 360s are flying off shelves....and have a good lineup....Wii-like avatars are good.... *sigh*

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

@ People who say 360 cut didn't do much: It didn't jump from 70k to 90k. It was a jump from 50k to 90k, on top of stealing away from PS3 sales. So far, the price cut has been successful, but it's only been 2 weeks - it'll need to keep this up to know if it means anything.

It got to 50k because of a very simple reason: people were anticipating the cut, and therefore, some were not buying the 360 before the cut, leading to less sales on those perticular weeks.

I think my point is valid dude...

It's been successful in preventing PS3 purchases, but not overall.

 ==> the xbox360 50$ price cut of last year (august07) put the console at ... 100k !!!!!!!

This one, more important price cut + console below 200$, was not able to push the console beyond 100k

Also, the slowdow of the PS3 was far from amazing since the console sales were already decreasing after the release of the 80gb ...

Time to Work !

I'll say the same thing that I did in the other thread.

Retarded video.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that:

The 360 was at 53k as early as August 10, and the price cut was only a rumor back then. It was only confirmed on the 20th when this was posted. Anyway, I doubt there were that many in-the-know to make such a difference.

Unless they were planning on stealing the Wii's market (which is just out of reach), I'd say the 360 cut was successful, so far. If the 360 can keep the PS3 from ever seeing the light of the American market, the price cut is doing its job.

The PS3 is clearly stalling in the marketplace. All of the previous momentum and upcoming releases, no matter how compelling, will not save the PS3 from two lower priced competitors. Sony is staring at an easy third place in this console generation unless they turn things around and gamers have made it painfully clear that cheap hardware is what they want. Sony needs to cut the price of the PS3 if they want to stay competitive, let alone gain market share.

that video was so shallow ...and was kinda bias
