Forums - Sales - First day sales in Japan (7/12)

Square enix was only expecting 450-500k units sold worldwide for this game. If you believe it will be a million seller in Japan, then you'll need to tell Square enix that they need to increase shipments. I believe it will do more then what Square enix thought but I don't think it will be a million seller in Japan this year. Maybe lifetime sales worldwide though...

I don't think gonna get released in Europe so not WW but Japan & US most propably.

I wonder how this Typhoon will affect sales for the week...can't be 'good' in anyway.

The Source, sorry to say this but I'm more worried about the well-being of the people down there, then about sales

Typhoons they come and go in Japan, but is really sad to hear that people get so heavy injured or even die by the heavy forces of mother nature.

I don't think it would effect the sales that much though.

Good showing for DQS on the first day. I expect a large drop-off the second week, however.

Where did you get their sales expectations from? It is doing rather great for a spin-off title launched in the first year of a system. I think if it has descent legs maybe it could hold up through the holidays and pull in some strong numbers, but it's hard believe it'll be remembered when games like Smash Bros., Mario Galaxy and Wiifit will be hitting shelves.

DQ:S good start. 300 k for a first week looks pretty sure.

here I was on my way to scream only 200k and then a Sony defender (well you are but you're posts is usually very good, not fanboy attacks) simply point out that it is just one day

Hopping for a 300k at least would be nice if it sold more than Zelda TP.

For a quick point of reference. These were the Gamecube's top 2 selling third party games in Japan

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Outside of Wii sports/play this is going to settle in as the biggest selling game in Japan on the Wii for now.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

DQS (Wii) : (a little) more than 200k (200~210k?)

Awesome!

I was cautiously hoping for 100k-150k, but 200k is great. First shipment will definitely sell out (or close) for week#1. This also means we don't really know just how strong the demand for this really is.

I think this will easily hit the 1m level before the end of the year. It might be at the 500k level within 2 weeks.

(also shows something that this could outsell TP within 2 weeks...).

...

Its also sold as much as the best selling PS3 title - in a single week.

Definitely picking this up now ;)
