Looks like Sony is far more along with Blu-ray prices then we think. A PS3 price drop is a Possibility. If this company can sell a blu-ray for 269.99 and still make a profit off each box sony could lower the price 50-100 bucks sometime really soon and still have software make more money then hardware losses.

i think the shop thats doing the blu ray player cheaper then the ps3 should get blown up.

Why? Cheaper bluray players mean more houses will have bluray technology. If the attach rate was higher then more houses would have Ps3s in them regardless of cheaper players. Sony did the same thing with Ps2 DvD player but DvD caught on a lot faster then bluray.

They will be cheap and generic players. The best Blu-ray player is still PS3, it's the most future proof Blu-ray player.

The more BR players sold, the more get produced, the cheaper they get to produce. So more news like this would definitely make it more likely that a PS3 pricecut may happen sooner.

Though I still think they will wait until next year.

It seems that BR drives are getting cheaper. Cheaper PS3 production is always good... as the drive eats up a whole lot of the production costs.

i think this is a good thing for sony, the more blu ray players the better especially at cheaper more affordable prices. it will just push the technology into the market faster, increasing bluray sales. and making the ps3 seem more "yes actually this is the time to have a bluray player" and it does have a good line up of games. there will always be electronics devices cheaper than sonys quality alternative, the price tag is not what sells sony products.

Honestly if you want to buy the drive for your PC.. you can go under 200$ now. I think circuit city has one for 179.99 and there was a 10% code floating around somewhere on the net..
