If you know some German you should be fine. A lot of the younger people know English as it is required in school. German is also a popular language as Hungary borders Austria.
There is plenty to do there. They have many churches and museums to visit. They also have Europe’s largest synagogue. You will likely spend most of your time walking around the city and admiring the beautiful architecture; the parliament building is breathtaking. It is also renowned for its hot-spring bathhouses. If you decide to travel there, you must go to the szecheni medicinal bath. There are other great places to go in Europe, but Budapest is the best.
