I'm from the Netherlands but don't really recommend it as it's probably quite expensive. There is a lot to do though as almost everything in the Netherlands is not that far away traveling, especially Amsterdam.
I suggest Prague though. It's invaded by English every year so they know some English (everyone in Europe does actually, apart from the mediterrenean country's), still pretty cheap, some of the best architecture ever seen in a western society. Also if you don't mind driving it's only a few hours to Poland, Austria and Germany.
