For the year, Wii sales have been in the area 220,000 in an average week of sales worldwide.  PS3 sales have been steady in the 50k-60k on average worldwide in recent weeks.

However, in coming weeks the new $600 PS3 will include a free game, and the old $500 price point will be available with the original 'optimal' sku.

I expect PS3 sales to briefly jump up toward 60-80k for a few weeks before Lair, Madden and others release in August.

However, Dragon Quest Swords and Mario Strikers should accompany larger than normal shipments of hardware.

Given the likely boosts for each console, I expect Wii to be at 10 million, and PS3 to be at 4 million when data comes in for the week ending Aug 5 (4 weeks from the end of the current data).

idk, DQ doesn't sell very well in NA and in Europe. It will likely put Wii in much larger numbers in Japan. Its close.

I vote PS3 first. Jack did say sales since the price drop doubled at 5 major retailers in the US. We all know it will have a worldwide boost because of E3. Sony had an insanely strong showing of games. Just Gran Turismo 5: Prologue's announcement will make a large amount of Japanese gamers want the PS3.

DQ isn't coming out in US or Europe, probably not even until next year, but the effect on Japan could be huge if Nintendo were to send enough stock. The way things are going now it would be that Wii would reach first, more than likely in the same week though. Basically no significant PS3 games coming out except hot shots golf in Japan on July 31st. The question would be whether or not the price cut will have a significant effect or not.

Strong by comparison to its performance to date?  Sure.
Strong by comparison to the other two?  Not really.  All three seemed relatively lackluster.

Also, I find it very difficult to believe sales have doubled since the "price drop" (read: elaborate smoke-and-mirrors that actually increases the entry price).

 DQ isn't coming out anytime soon in Europe and NA it'll only be in Japan for the next few months anyway. Bu I do think it'll be huge, it's just hard to say how much of an effect they'll have on hardware that sells out everywhere anyway.

Wii will reach 10 mil first (obviously)... Cause the PS3 pricedrop isn't going to make big waves. I guess about the same waves DQ:Swords is gonna make in Japan. And 3.7 mil for PS3 + 50k a week will put it on 4 mil in around 6 weeks... And with Wii around 220k a week... And ~9 mil sold it'll reach it in about 4.5 weeks.
