Forums - Sales - was the 360 price cut really effective in NA

i just wanna know ur thoughts

not being a fanboy or nothing but only 90k isnt to good for a price drop week

Wait and see if it's sustained or not.

First two days had 90k last week, and the last week got it to 90k too, when people expected a bigger boost.

Unless next week is 90k again, it wasn't too successful.

Consistency over the next 3-4 weeks shall tell. As of now, not too much.

America? Not a whole lot has been done here....heck, sales were only 70K last month, and this barely bumped it up. I was expecting double sales in america.

Japan? YES. Japanese sales went up by about 10K what they were previously, but I'm afraid that this won't last b/c the japanese tend to be impulse shoppers.

All in all though, it doesn't look like Japan's results could do a whole lot for MS. MS should be having 60K more units sold than now, then I'd be impressed but this is pidly at best.

Oh and the japanese consumer tends to be more of an impulse shopper than their american counterparts.....they'll buy a game in scores right after it comes out but you won't see a comparable % of sales after a couple of weeks when compared to american game products. Therefore, the Japanese results probably won't last. My prediction is that the 360 will settle at about the PS3's level in japan and stay at that until big happens again.

Where did the 360 do 70k last month? If you meant last week, it was adjusted up to 91k.

90k is a good number... that's what my prediction was anyway. It's not going to have a Halo 3 like month, but it'll do over 300k easy. And considering it almost doubled the PS3 it looks like many of us were right that it would eat away at PS3 numbers and have little to no effect on Wii numbers. But remember people... Oct - Dec is the real battle ground.

Sorry I meant 70K last week, but even that was false as MS did about 50K last week, and after briefly checking previous weeks it appears that they have been selling about 50k hardware units each week.  The thing of it is though, is that a lot of us (including myself) predicted a lot more coming from the price cut.  Haven't you seen all of the threads lately saying things like this "will kill off the PS3 and make the 360 dominant like a champ" ???  Well, that ain't happening to say the least.

didn't you read my post on why the price cut will work

my signature went on strike, it's demanding 3% raise

I think only time will tell. You can't base price cuts off your judgements of successful game launches. They work differently. Hardware sales are about legs and sustainability. That's why you can't tell. You won't be able to tell until you see where the console levels off. I think that's the only fair assessment here, tbh.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
