Sony pleased themselves and not the consumers (The mass of the consumers last gen) by coming into the game with their own corporate ends to meet (And not yours). Blu Ray and media control were all apart of the plan. Did the fans ask Sony for that? NO! Important shareholders wanted it. Sony is not like an actor, Sony is a business...that can have its way as long as it makes a mark on consumers within each lifetime of its systems. People don't have to love businesses these days, they just have to be satisfied by what they offer (IE: Their disposable goods) enough until the next iteration. The ethics of business has changed (If you haven't noticed). Look at the world around you.
SE promised a good FFXIII game. The game was developed on the PC and then moved to the PS3 and then the 360. It will as powerful as they expected and intended for it to be in the first place. They said it themselves. PS3 fanboys use graphics and the power of Blu Ray as a crutch because they don't want the game to be multiplatform. If you want the game, stop being a child and play the game. Be the gamer that only you know you can be. The game was going to turn out a certain...wayyyyyy before they thought about putting it on the 360. Obviously their financial projections told them that they would needed extra revenue and the 360 was the perfect system to add to help out. Even if it sells less it will give them what they need. I am the true gamer who plays systems for only their use to amuse him? Why? I care not for gaming politics just as long as I know which system will have the most games. The system that usual resides around market price will sell the most. The Wii is below the market price and actually by production costs truthfully costs around $180 dollars. They are making hand over fist as you can see. When they feel threatened by the competition they will drop the price.
Kojima has a loyalty to Sony and I respect that. He also did want to create a visually superior game (Which of course he partially regrets not focusing more on gameplay). MGS got 10/10 and I doubt Kojima would be wanting to give it 10/10. That was all politics. He wasn't satisified with MGS4 because it was majority a cinematic phenomenon rather than gameplay. This is why he cannot keep himself away in an artistic approach and wants to work on another MGS. Konami would love to make the game multiplat so they could make the most money, but Kojima said no, so thats that. I'm not bitching about it, i'll have the game soon enough. In fact when it happened I was playing a game with friends and went on said "Clever girl" with cocky smile on my face.
I don't hate Sony, I know that the people running Sony at first could give two shits about gaming besides for the fact of it bailing the out of obscurity. They owe everything to this phenomenon which gained marketshare and made them the cockiest bastards on earth. It was Kutagari who talked them into even bringing the Playstation into existance...and they laughed at him, while they were getting their asses handed to them by other companies. I hated the first Xbox and played the PS2 and the gamecube last gen, but I told the fanboys of the PS2 to be weary that they are dealing with Microsoft a brand that isn't stupid and is just as bloodthirsty as Sony is. To ask me how Sony is cocky is not to know their history. Being dominant for two generations only made them cockier.
If you think Sony did the right thing this gen, then I guess you'll see a larger extension of Blu Ray. Blu Ray isn't needed in economies that are majority satisfied with DVD players that Sony helped bring in with in the first place. The majority of people see Blu Ray is redudancy and tech nerds see it as something that is needed. Guess who are the majority are?
Of course...don't worry though. Sony will catch up to Nintendo and devour them this gen. LOL yes...they will.

You seem to be very set on the idea that Sony's intentions as a business are not pure. Sony does not pull the same antics other companies make. Yes, they are guilty of some low stuff but nothing huge. Nothing that stood in the way of other prospering companies. All big businesses are not evil (just the MS ones lol).
Sony Inovates, My Proof:
Every console cycle sony revamps their system with brand new tech. None of their systems bare the same disc format. I remember when PS1 first came out, Nintendo was screaming that CD was not going to change the way we played games. That all the extra room was not needed. Well all of their claims were laid to rest when the games like GT, FFVII, Crash Bandicoot came to town. CD helped these games come to fruition, and allowed them to be better games for it. Sony also had a built in CD player with the sytem as well. A gaming console that is not only a gaming console. PS2 brought in DVD. DVD boosted the way games could be played as well. The unique architecture of the PS2 allowed game designers to really use their imagination. Initially there was nothing spectacular but towards the end we saw some really fine games. FFX came to be, showing amazing visuals, as did MGS3, which was just beautiful. Even after we began to move on from the PS2 games such as God of War and Persona 3 and 4 came, showing us that the system had plenty of life left in it, with room for the games to grow and expand. For 8+ years PS2 reigned supreme as the ultimate gaming console. PS3 comes along as a monolith of gaming. Boasting new cell technology(used in the worlds most powerful super computers) and BluRay which has a max capacity of 50gb Sony unleashes pandora's box of potential for gaming. The point of the HD consoles is to expand gaming in general right? More storage space means more stored content for our games, as well as movies. You say it was Sony's particular agenda that had them put this stuff in the PS3. So what? The stuff definitely gets the job done, allowing the possibilities to be truly endless.
Sony cares for their Fans, My Proof:
With each generation of their system Sony has taken HUGE hits for the consumers. They purposely take financial losses so that their system's may be slightly more affordable for the average consumer. PS2 completely drained all the money made from the PS1 era of console, but more then made up for it with content produced. PS3 has taken the largest hit of the three. PS3 is worth somewhere around 700-800 dollars. Sony sold it for 600-. Sony , still after losing so much money, had not cut out features that will be most important for the console. Built in Wifi, Rechargable Controllers, USB/SD card readers, free online, etc. Combine that with a super functional console that rarely fails, the PS3 is utter perfection. No other company can say they do stuff like that. Maybe Sony has alterior motives by doing this, but the fact of the matter is these things function to help ME out as a consumer.
Your whole idea of sony being shady seems to be ridden with personal assumption instead of factually based arguments.
