It is a MODEL price drop not a CONSOLE price cut.
I am very glad i dont have the problem of multiple SKU's for the PS3 made stuff alot easier in the UK.But if they do release the 80GB over here they should 1.Drop the price of the 60GB to £300 (then its the same price as the 360 with one game and most stores are selling the PS3 with 1 free game anyway) 2.Price the 80GB PS3 at the old £400 price point then it IS a pricecut in the UK and it will sell alot better than it is here.

Exactly, and I know I've said this before.  If your going to use the logic that the Console didn't take a price cut since they upgraded it and kept it at the same price, then I say Microsoft has done far worse and actually increased the cost of their system by releasing the 360 Elite.

I'm not sure about the person you're replying to, but most people don't say that this is not a price cut because the 80 GB has been introduced, but because the lowest price to get a PS3 didn't change from the time that the 20 GB model existed... Adding (or eliminating) higher-priced SKUs doesn't change a thing about that argument, since by definition it doesn't change the lowest price.

Anyway, Sony themselves have declared that this is not a price cut but a stock clearance (there are links to those statements everywhere in this forum).

Well not a bad thing stock clearance seening as they have about 3million 60GB PS3 in warehouses they sell them through a "pricecut".General public still think it a price cut probably.
MS actually raised the price of the 360 and noone cares i dont see why everyone is so quick to attack Sony,BD and PS3 but wont attack MS,360 and Windows(crap OS) as quickly.

 This whole thread, along with Peter Moore are pretty f'ing stupid.  I think that's the point of what mitsuhide is saying.  If I can now get a 60GB PS3 for $500, when it used to be $600, that's a price cut.  Sorry MS bozo's. 

 If you can say, hey, but the console is still only available at $500 and $600, then what others are saying, is with the elite, the 360 is now either $300, $400, or $480 instead of just $300 or $400.  So by this threads and Moore's line of reasoning, with is totally absurd, MS raised the price of the 360 "console" when the elite came out.
