I really enjoy all of NJ5's comments, seriously, he looks like einstein compared to sony fanboys like Celb, Andir or tombi123
On topic:
Really, it's just a pricedrop of the models, not as a console as one
This is just for once, a smart move by Sony PR since it will move some more systems
I don't get the fanboys, sony does something good and you're still whining :D

They're a relatively insignificant number of people -- what, 2,000? That's nothing.
and when all the stocked 60gb ps3's are gone .. we are gonna be left with the choice of .... the 600$ 80gb then they might do another "price cut"
I hope you are right about Sony and a price cut once the 60GB models are gone. As much as I want the Wii to win this generation, I have no desire to see the PS3 fail or even do poorly. They have quite a few games I am interested in (especially Little Big Planet and Echochrome), but not enough to justify spending even $400 on the console alone in my mind.
The sad thing for me at least is that it seems a lot of people take my views on the PS3 position to mean I don't like the console. I just don't see any reason to act like their situation is just dandy, its obviously not. And I truly hope they make the changes to get back on track and sell consoles.
Luckily for now I have my Wii to tide me over until the PS3 drops in price or the 360 gets more than just a couple exclusive games I am somewhat interested in (And no that is not a stab at the 360, it happens to be a fact that exclusive 360 games have yet to do anything but mildy grab my interest.).
fact is ,that the 20Gb sku was discontinued month ago (because consumers didn't want it), so the price for a PS3 was $600 and now it's $500

You nailed it. Also, there was no 20GB anymore so the only way you could get a PS3 was $600. Now it's $500. That's a $100 price cut. As for the blu-ray promotion, that is going to last 3 months or more if I'm not mistaken. |
I know this is an old comment but I just saw the E3 live show on G4 and Jack Tretton disagrees with you. He says it isn't a price cut either.

| HappySqurriel said: If you look at a price cut of a console as a means to make the console more accessable to people the PS3's price cut was meaningless because people who can now afford a PS3 at $500 could have already bought a PS3 at $500 ... The population of gamers they were targeting with the PS3 has not grown, but it now may be a more reasonable system to these people. Â |
Beautiful way to cut through the semantics. Whatever you wish to call this price shuffle, its goal was to widen its market, and there's good reason to think it won't.
Jesus and they call Sony arrogent. What a jackass statement by Moore. It's the kind of comment Microsoft and maybe Nintendo fanboys make on message boards. Anyway who knows how much the price cut will help the PS3. We do know however the 360 has stayed without a price cut longer than any system in the history of video games. So really Microsoft is in the worst position to try to bash anyone elses price cut.

First, what did moore say? I think I missed something...
Second, I can't imagine anyone could possibly disagree with your last sentence there, though I am not surprised MS tried considering it really seems as if MS and Sony have decided to have a public PR brawl. And I think they are both losing...at the bare minimum my once complete conviction on owning a 2nd console this gen has waned to more of a "Lets see what happens before we make any choices..".
