The way website ads usually work, Ioi gets money just for having people load the pages with the ads. It doesn't matter if their browser is set to block displaying the ads. The ads just keep track of pageviews, of individual hits, and those aren't blocked by Adblock.

Ioi probably also gets paid BETTER if people actually CLICK the links, but that's not usually necessary TO get paid.

This is how non-targeted ads work (like google ad-sense), however ioi has switched to new ads (at least some are the new ads, we still have some old ads), and those don't work that way.

the mall gets money regardless of whether you buy  or anyone else buys at a given store or not. If the store goes under because no one was shopping there, then the mall rents it out the space to another store. :b Horrible logic.
