Forums - Nintendo - Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 or Tenkaichi 3? Which did you like better?

The money I was gonna spend on manga I end up spending on a video game because we didnt go to Downtown LA.

The game I bought was Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. I bought it used for only $19. I had $30 spent a couple bucks on food. Anyways anyone who played/own both Tenkaichi 2 and 3. Which do you prefer? I couldve bought 2 for the same price but decided to buy the latest version. I played the original Tenkaichi on PS2 and really liked everything about it. It was a fun game overall.

Tenkaichi 3 on the other hand is frustrating beyond belief. On easy mode its kicking my ass! Story mode, interface, and the Z Evolution is implented it a terrible way.

The game play was bad at first too but Im getting comfortable with it. Point is im having some-what fun with but I prefer the original. And shoulve I have just bought Tenkaichi 2.

NOTE - I think DBZ is a terrible anime but the AMVs are cool and games are fun because you dont need to follow any of the terrible story just have some cool fights.
Doubt many people will post on this thread.=\
I wont name the game I couldve bought for the same price because some people would kill me.

I preffer the third one more.
It has more modes and after you get used to it and after you get better,it becomes funner then the second one,it's the most complete DBZ game.
The online isn't good though.

Edit:Maybe you're not used to the cotrols, have you tried using the classic controller?(I'm not sure if you could use the gc controller),but I like the Wii-mote/Nun-chuck controls more.

Hmm. Hopefully I feel that way soon. I think I fucked up my GC controller because of it. >_>
First game in a REALLY long time to make throw it.

Tenkaichi 3!

At first I thought the same about the gameplay, I just couldn't get used to the changes. One week later after mastering the controls, there's no way back to Tenkaichi 2. Seriously, I recently played it and.... well, it's just crap compared to Tenkaichi 3.

I always play with Wiimote-Nunchuck, I'm used to it and is more fun. The story is shorter, but I think that was a good thing, in Tenkaichi 2 was awfully huge with lot of loadings, and getting Dragon balls was a pain in the ass.

Actually, I like the new Evolution Z, once you have an item you can put it on any character. No leveling up.

It has lot of extra modes, the graphics are better, I liked more the music, the action is faster, you have new offensive and defensive moves that make fighting more balanced, more characters, there are new Blast and Ultimate attacks (in Tenkaichi 2 a lot of them repeated among the characters, in Tenkaichi 3 all are different).

Also, you can now make bigger combos, I recommend you to look on youtube Tenkaichi 3 Combo Tutorial (from Omega2040 or something like that), and you'll be impressed. Now I'm able to do combos of more than 150 hits.

All in all, you made the right choice, congratulations!!! =)

Really??? Again I hope I get used to it and like it more than I do now. Music is still terrible. But I guess I made the better decision.
GOD I WISH WII HAD CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS!!!

tenkaichi 3... it wasn't even too much different from 2. but there was a wider selection of characters, including Arale from Dr. Slump :)

If you played the original Tenkaichi and liked it, there's no way you won't like Tenkaichi 3. (In youtube the same guy Omega2040 has a comparison of the 3 games).

Really, I suggest you go to training mode, choose a character and learn every movement on the list (all characters are somewhat similar, but not the same). Once you do that, go now to Story. I had the same problem before learning the controls the CPU kicked my ass, not anymore =)

Any question you have with the controls you can ask me. I remeber the tutorial was not clear at all (at least to me)

If you played it on PS2 probably not, on Wii is a different story (at least with Wiimote-Nunchuck is totally different)

My son loved 3 especially playing online with a friend - up until they realized mashing A would always win a fight so it became who could A mash first/fastest and that sucked the enjoyment out.

Hmmm, no, not really. There a lot of defensive techniques for that, either Counters, Sonic Sway, Step In or Teleports
