KH3 and Kid Icarus wasnt even the second coming of Christ either, there are fans of the games but its not even the half of the fans of Final fantasy series so far...

Final Fantasy Fans? You mean the typical 11-19 year old anime fan gamers on forums who chronically choose the angriest pictures they can find of either Sephiroth, Dragonball Z, Naruto or Avatar: The Last Airbender characters for their icons? Now, I'm not saying that to try and insult anyone, but you do realize Kingdom Hearts epitomizes everything that has become Final Fantasy's "Bubble Gum Soda Pop High School Musical meets Hot Topic" appeal since Hironobu Sakaguchi (The Miyamoto of Final Fantasy) left Square and FFX became the new standard of "excellence". Kingdom Hearts is practically Square's Magnum Opus in the eyes of any gamer who honestly still thinks there is any value to what Final Fantasy has become.

The only Final Fantasy fans who would be immune to Kingdom Hearts appeal are maybe the older elitists who buy into Final Fantasy's current direction purely for its pretentious and gaudy presentation (you know the people that can't get enough of the FF7 meets Metal Gear Solid imagery of FF13) or those who think the golden days of Final Fantasy never left and its just as good as its always been.

I'm seriously not trying to insult anyone here but wake up and see the Final Fantasy animal for what it is. This is not high art we're talking about here.

Dont forget about 11-19 year old kids who listens to Linkin park and make videos of ANY ANIME and add a Linkin Park song to post on youtube. But yeah, thats what Im posting about... And we could do nothing about it either, Final Fantasy is becoming like Naruto and DBZ of video games. Its all about "stereotypes" atleast Crystal Bearers were good if it will be ever released.

No, Crystal Bearers won't be immune, sure there aren't kids with big clown shoes and key blades with people sporting hair that would make Sonic the Hedgehog jealous, but its all the same. And even if Square did make exceptional games, they don't bother bringing the special editions to the West anway so what's the point caring knowing you're only ever going to get the gimped version.

Eh, what games are high art anyway? And when were the golden days of Final Fantasy, really? There were golden days of Square, maybe...

All I know is, FFX was my favorite FF since VI, and was one of my fav games of last gen. If XIII is anything like it, you bet I'll be hyped for it more than anything. Of course, Kingdom Hearts isn't far behind, either. And I don't believe I'm a typical anime fan - no more than you, anyway, with the Kamo avatar you're sporting

Do you have a problem with Nomura and his art / direction? The exaggerations in NMH, for example, is one reason I liked the game so much. It certainly beats the hell out of the brown, realism bullcrap the HD consoles have seen (see: Resistance: FoM, GTAIV).

Where's the old Square we used to love since the NES days anyway? Most of their games are either ports, rehash, remakes and spin offs. And if they try something new they make it into just like other stereotype anime thing like Final fantasy XIII.

@cord----> The only good final Fantasy OR GAME of Square for that matter on this generation was Final fantasy X.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Fail!  Kingdom Hearts was my favourite game of the last generation!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

The sequel wasnt as good as its predecessor though, the worse part is they just milk the franchise. Kingdom hearts should be finished with 2 games, Kingdom hearts and a sequel to finish the cliffhanger thats in the ending of kingdom hearts.

Really it all begain with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

This was the magnum opus of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the father of Final Fantasy and Miyamoto of RPGs.

hironobu sakaguchi
- Either Conceptualized, Directed or Worked on FF1-FF7, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger and Parasite Eve
- Produced FF8-FF9 & Parasite Eve 2
- Directed Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
- Began work on FF10

It was FF: The Spirits Within's utter and pathetic failure that forced Sakaguchi to step down from Square Soft as is customary in Japan with those who fail thier company (i.e. the creator of the PS3). Square was easily able to recover from their financial losses with the movie by selling the studio they had built to make it (and house all thier future projects that never would be), however when Sakaguchi stepped down their market value plummeted forcing them into near bankrupcy and much of Square-Soft's talent left. The crippled company was bought out by Enix in a merger thus becoming Square-Enix. However new practices and change in artistic vision led to more and more talent leaving the company.

Yoshitaka Amano (The Art of Final Fantasy)
- Did Concept Art for FF1-FF6 & FF9
- Left most likely in response to Hironobu’s stepping down or was phased out in favor of a new art direction.

Nobuo Uematsu (Music of Final Fantasy)
- Did Music for FF1-FF11
- It’s not know if he left or was phased out in favor of new musical composures.
- His latest work was the title theme of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Yasumi Matsuno
- Directed FFT, Ogre Tactics & Vagrant Story
- Began directing FF12 and Conceptualizing FF13 but left due to unknown reasons (possibly due to artistic conflict or politics within Square-Enix)
- Is believe to currently be working with Nintendo and Monolith on a new JRPG.

In the mean time Sakaguchi has recovered and has gathered up the bulk of the talent that fled Square Soft and Square-Enix over the years since his departure to form Mist Walker with the assistance of Microsoft. Currently it is believed that the ratio of talent at Square-Enix is 70% Enix and 30% Square Soft.

Wait... what did really happened with Squaresoft during Spirits Within anyway? Well I admit the graphics was AWESOME but the movie itself isnt true to Final Fantasy games and IT SUCKS

As far as anyone can tell, the Spirits Within was the victim of trying to make something that appealed to too broad an audience rather than staying true to their vision of Final Fantasy. It was something they truely and honestly tried their hardest to make a solid quality piece of art.
