Forums - Sales - Will a Euro price cut help MS turn the tide?

i don't think this pricedrop will do much more than a short time spike in europe, the arcade as entry model only gets a small drop and its already very cheap now. i don't think that price argument with price of arcade before the drop is whats holding people off from buying a 360. the most noticeable drop is for the elite so we might see more people buying the elite instead of the 60gb after the drop.

but after this drop microsoft won't have any room for noticeable drops in the future (its already nearly at ps2 price), only thing taht they can do later on would be dropping a model with harddisk to same price.

Around the Network

It should. 360 has a lot of good games and with the current pricing it offers the best deal you can get.

360
110 80+ games, price 189€
Ps3
66 80+ games, price 379€
Wii
29 80+ games, price 249€

That is like 0.58(360)/0.17(ps3)/0.11(wii) good games per € spent on console. Whoaa. How a gamer could resist such a bargain?

Nothing can help it in Europe now....the PS3 has just picked up too much momentum. Microsoft arent doing badly, they should concentrate on the market they have the PS3 beaten in, America

They don´t have to sell  more then Sony in Europe they just need to stay close to their sales to ensure that Sony ends up last.

doesn't really give high hopes for ms and their next console though, does it?

if sony release their next console and it's the same price as the next xbox, what the hell are microsoft going to do then? the 360 has to be 'significantly cheaper' than the ps3 in order to compete with it. it has to resort to wii level prices to compete with the ps3, and it's still a stretch for them. people here on the forums are saying that it's great that ms are making the 360 so affordable, and i agree. but what they fail to realise (or choose to omit), is that this is down to pressure on their side. when they say that this will put pressure on sony or say sony is in trouble due to the super affordable prices, i just laugh. they said the exact same thing with the april price cut alongside gta 4. before AND after this price cut, sony is in a BETTER position. it's price and it's sales prove that.

the 360 is already affordable. now it's going into clearance prices and it's not a good look when you see a brand new 360 retailing at £129 to the casual eye.

The only reason the PS3 was even able to compete at it's price point was because it was coming off the success/domination of the PS2 and the fact that it had made massive inroads into Europe.  Do you think the PS3 will dominate the competition like the PS2 did?  The next consoles from Sony and Microsoft will be introduced in a far different landscape than the two current consoles.
