Forums - Sales - I'm tired of unfounded predictions

I agree with you....and that´s why I´d really appreciate reading Fishy´s, Reasonable´s and Gamerace´s predictions on whether or not the PS3 will surpass the 360´s worldwide install base by the end of next year.

Since it looks like the Wii is bound to take 1st place by a very big margin, the 2nd place battle is the one I´m interested in.

If you guys would take the time I´d really appreciate it.

I need proof of these silly predictions you speak... AND don't include Rock_on.

John_Lucas (I only heard of him, not actually seen him), Leo-J said the Wii would be dead in July and now acts like he never said that. Honestly I am kinda new but I could find more.

Those are expected.

I remember a huge group of people who said PS3 will beat 360 worldwide this year in lifetime sales. I actually haven't seen crazy 360 sales post. (someone go find me one)

Having reasons for your predictions means that more often than not, you'll be wrong. Videogames sales numbers are unforgiving. They'll completely ignore all logic of userbase, economy and population, and even past trends. I've made dozens of founded predictions that fell flat on their face, and so have other people (sorry Naznatips, but GTA4 will sell more than you want it to).

Is this because of the nonsensical LittleBigPlanet predictions?

The thing I hate seeing is that certain people make tons of predictions. They use it to stroke their own ego. Some of the predictions wind up being right and they beat us over the head with it. When they're wrong they never admit it and even when confronted with it, they choose to ignore it.

i always use logic and non of my predictions have ben false so far. just waiting for the next batch of predictions to come true so i can laugh at all of you for calling me a deluded fanboy when i clearly show past trends and data to back up my predictions, so it does not really make a diff if you use data or not because you still get yourself bashed anyway.

Are we talking about Rock_on, Leo-J and CrazzyMan here? You can be a fanboy and predict 1 or 2 millions more units sold of your favorite console but not 2 or 3 times what everybody on this site are predicting.

I think there's a reason they call it prediction. None of us really know how many copies a game is going to sell. I am still dumbfounded on how popular the wii is, i could have never predicted such high numbers.

You know what I hate? When people make posts in threads mentioning the Wii or Nintendo when the thread has NOTHING to do with either of them.

In fact, that sounds a lot like the OP.

End of '07 Sales:

Wii: 280 million
PS3: 3,450
Xbox360: 6,897

Wii fit will sell 4x the entire Playstation family game library combined by the end of its sales run.

The Wii will outsell every gaming system ever made combined by a ratio of 40:1.

SUPPPERRRR SAYA-JINNUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!

I predict there will be more bad predictions... j/k LOL

Anyway I forget the name of this one law of the internet but it basically went "Normal Person + Audience + Anonymity = Idiocy"

Anyway i like to hear new ideas no matter how idiotic, makes life interesting.

Just 1 point :

The issue is not about people making predictions.

The issue is about people making a thread about their predictions ...
