Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Kart and... The new hardcore Wii games of E3

I think E3 is just dead to us. The committe made some serious mistakes and it's keeping everyone from doing anything. Thats why I expect that E3 08 isn't happening, or that it's the last one. The size was a good thing. It allowed a large number of people to see everything. Now, good luck trying to get jack without a convoy of people across the city.

What I'm getting at is Nintendo didn't show much becuase, who showed anything. Miccrosoft and Sony showed just about the same amount of stuff. If we were gaguge Nintendo's future, E3 isn't it.

Not all FPS's should be considered hardcore. Shooters for the most part ARE casual games (in america). You can get any get guy (gamer or not) to play a FPS with you. Sports and sandbox games are also pretty casual.

Boy, I wish that were true.  I have to struggle to get my casual gamer friends to play FPS's with me.  I love First Person Shooters, and I rarely ever get anyone to play with me.

Super Mario Kart with online was a huge announcement. Nintendo made a huge announcement about a traditional game this E3. They also made a huge announcement about a non traditional game in regards to Wiifit.

other than that, we learned that Medal of Honour will feature 32 player online, MP 3's controls work like a dream and Reggie is overweight.

I don't think nintendo was ignoring the "hardcore" (stupid label) at all. But they're not going to ignore the new gaming sector they've created either.

Now it looks like within 2 years Nintendo will have given the Wii what it gave the Gamecube during its entire run. So far all we haven't heard anouncements for new Pikman, Starfox, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf or Kirby games.

So the Wii is outdoing the Gamecube in terms of traditional major games... The fact that they're reaching out to new gamers as well is a good thing, not a bad thing.

I'm just curious what other hardcore games Nintendo mentioned that they're bringing out next year. The reason is I was just thinking about that Play Magazine article I posted on here awhile back(http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=3480) and I'm wondering if he has been proven right or not.

They didn't anounce anything at all Legend.  They anounced Mario Kart and Wii Fit (1 for 1 casual and hardcore for the record).  They did this after plugging all the 3rd party games and exclusives comming to the Wii for an hour (only plugged the hardcore games) and then Reggie said Nintendo will never stop focusing on the core gamer.

For the hardcore gamer (I hate that expression and avoid using it btw), there was also "Medal of Honor : Airborne" which can use the Zapper. And I think they said there'd be some 3rd party announcing another Zapper game during E3.

IGN asked miyamoto about pikmin:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/804/804262p1.html

"Every time we chat with Nintendo's famous producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, we bring up at least one franchise we'd like to see remade for the company's current-generation console. It used to be Metroid. Then it was Kid Icarus. And most recently, it's become Pikmin. When quizzed on the subject, Miyamoto all but revealed that another Pikmin was in development for Wii."

About 1:1 motion:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/804/804252p1.html

"IGN recently asked famous Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto whether or not the publisher had thought about internally developing a sword fighting game with one-to-one controls - something Wii fans have been clamoring for - and he hinted that some talks had taken place. In fact, judging by the phrasing of his response, Nintendo may already have a game underway."

(more in the link once again)

Edit: Another link with some info about the next animal crossing. He just says that he hopes to show something soon. http://wii.ign.com/articles/804/804275p1.html

and btw, in the previous link he hints at using some 1:1 in the upcoming mario & sonic game.
