Forums - Sales - I still expected the XBOX360 to sell more....

Most people caught the lower price on the weekend circulars at big box stores...so I doubt people were running out to get it on friday night after a long day at work, but probably on saturday and sunday...I think we will see 360 #s over 100K for this week.

Even if it were 1 day or 2 days, the least expensive PS3 is Double the cheapest 360 model. I wonder if the RROD still holds people back from buying, even if its been reduced?

I think this week, you'll see tremendous sales numbers that will follow through the entire end of they ear.

Console Agnostic since 2001.

The cut was pushed up to the 5th. Either way, it's still too early to see the effect.

Next week's totals will be a better indicator of the immediate effect.

This month's totals will provide a more accurate indicator of the lasting effect.

The real effect can't be ascertained until after the holiday totals are tallied up.

That will more or less indicate the future of the 360 platform for the remainder of its lifespan.

I wonder how good will next weeks sales be... I am expecting over 100k 360s, but seeing what the previous price-cut had Im not certain that the 360 will get a long-lasting boost in sales, especially after the holiday season dies off :(

What happens if cutting prices to the bone doesn't drive huge sales? Anyone remember the Dreamcast cutting prices to the bone and still not picking up any steam? I think history might very well repeat itself here. Maybe Americans are more willing to pay more for quality then some would think these days.

The 360 has sold a lot more then the dreamcast and is still selling well. They aren't in comparable situations at all.

Yep. 360 has a much bigger library than the DC did at this stage.

The jury's still out on whether that bigger library translates to more appealing to a broader demographic though. MS has been trying, but if it doesn't, all the price cuts in the world won't do anything other than give core gamers a better deal.

I will say that if the 360 doesn't post a significant increase over the 2007 holiday, it's pretty much all downhill starting in 2009 for the platform.

Not a crash, just a plateau and gradual decline.

But I think the 360 will have a good holiday season this year.

@impulsivity
...and by the term "quality" you mean what exactly? Cause if you say it games wise,
you obviously are highly unaware of the existing (and future) situation.
Can you all ask yourself, please?
Which one of you would purchase a console on Friday, for 280, knowing that by Saturday it will cost 200?
I count this week's 360 data as a 2-day sales. And as long as it concerns me, 75 k is fine!
