Forums - Gaming - i am at my limit for accepting casual games...

Casual games have been out looong before Nintendogs and casual and core can happily co-exist. Look at the PC game shelves for crying out loud.

PC the pinnacle of true Core gaming where the games like Crysis with graphics so intense your PS3 can't run them sits besides Nancy Drew Mystery of the Mountain and Desktop Car Racing. And don't forget flash games where there's a massive casual market.

All you're seeing is that balance of casual and core being brought to the consoles to a degree not seen before (PS2 enjoyed a huge casual market too). Except since 'casual' is this 'new' great discovery for console game makers they are all rushing to supply it - and mostly with crap games that are quick to get out. In time it'll settle into the sort of balance PC gaming has had for many, many years.

I am not mad as long as hardcore games keep coming out.

At your limit? C'mon. I'm sure we can squeeze at least ONE more casual game in there. Now open up!

Why is it that people are so keen to try to force their opinions onto others? These casual games are selling and giving some people a lot of fun, why do you want to take that away from people?

Don't like a game? Don't play it. Problem solved.

The problem occurrs when you don't like any games because the "new" and "casual" gamers are practically the only ones being catered to. If you have played games as long as some people in here have and start looking at the decripit state in which the industry will be if this continues then you should be a little ticket off imo. I know I am.

With high budget titles counting perhaps 10% (hardcore titles if you will) of the library in the future (possibly, hypothetically) and take into consideration that only a fraction of high budget titles are actually any good, that leaves you/us with very, very, very few games worth playing indeed. Of course, the industry will do what they can to make the most money possible which is understandable and only suitable after all, but by doing so they will slowly move away from crowds like us, tossing us scraps now and then and we'll be out of a hobby (don't say it is not a big deal, we're gamers, that's why we're here after all).

And that, ladies and gentelmen, is why I do not approve of Nintendo's strategy, because it does not benefit me in the long run when they see that feeble casuals are worth more than me in bucks and dollars. Blue Ocean is fine, but not if you forget the shoreline you sailed from.

PS: d21lewis rules.

PSPS: I'll get flamed but I don't give a shit, at least I got balls to speak against the crowd.

I don't have a problem with casual games. Everyone is entitled to games they enjoy. I only have a problem with Wii Music.

Now that's a very honest and respectable position and I don't think you should be faulted for that - even if you're being a little selfish.   But for me the reverse is true.  I was never interested in console gaming until the Wii came out.  Before that the last game I bought (for myself) was on a Colecovision.   I'm happy to see the narrow spectrum of games widening out so that there's something for everyone to play.   I'm also happy to see girls & women becoming a force to be recgoned with in the industry.   It's about time video games stopped being (perceived as) a nerdy kid the their moms basement thing and became a true mainstream entertainment medium.

I´m a economis graduate do I can tell you for sure: were you find demand, you´ll find supply. Market rule. Don´t worry, as long as we are here, they will continue to produce hardcore games. ANd this casual thing is propably a trend, in two or 4 years people won´t buy so many casuals as they did, but we´ll continue to exist. Some of the new gamers migth even cross the brigde between casual and core. But I´m worried for pc gaming though, I see less games being released and that scare the s*** out of me.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future......NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

I've been at that point for about a year now. My Wii is now only ever used as a homebrew console, nothing more. Even then I haven't turned it on in at least 3 months.

I mourn the loss of the true Nintendo.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

These kind of rant threads should be banned or locked immediately.

Dont like the game dont buy it. Some people love that shit let them play it. I think theres too many FPS but Im not gonna start a thread bitching about it.

@shadowblind.
Dunno if you own every major 1st party game for Wii. If you dont then thats your fault. Anyways 2009 will be a great year for Wii and if you dont buy/like any of the games coming next year well youre just being difficult.
