Forums - Nintendo - If Red steel came out with MOH:H2 controls, would it have been a good game?

What was wrong with Red Steel's graphics? Looked a step above pretty much everything from last gen--what else can you expect from Wii, especially a launch game?

But anyway, yeah, I think if RS was of higher quality, the Wii's image in the minds of core gamers would be completely different right now. It would have sold much better, developers would have seen sales potential sooner, they would have made better games, we wouldn't come to hate the term 'waggle', and it would be right up there with the 360 for core gamers.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I still think it would have been a very generic game overall, but it would have made the multiplayer damn nice to play. Red Steel had many more problems than just the controls. I personally didn't like the formulaic level design, or the graphics, or the audio, or the story. Everything about it was very blah and felt like a rehash of a thousand other FPSes that came before it.

Considering I think the game was pretty good to begin with....YES! The sword fighting was an issue as stated above. The graphics were not bad at all for a launch game imo.

I thought Red Steel was great - for a launch game. Obviously improved shooting would have been nice but that wasn't a deal breaker, that was there was adequate. It was really the wonky sword fighting that hurt it more.

We keep our copy of Red Steel for a looong time because it was the only split-screen FPS on Wii. Now that Quantum of Solance (or whatever) has it I'll be sure to pick that up (or CoD5 if it has it) instead.

i really hope QOS does well... It looks like the wii versions of the game are beginning to get better review scores than the HD versions, at least from IGN.

I think that the shooting controls were very good for a launch game. The sword fighting is what the problem was. I like Red Steel overall. Unfortunately it got bashed really hard. This is because of way too much hype IMO.

The swordfights were annoying but if you think about it, its probably the best swordfighting that has been on a game. Everything else has been the same repetitive button pushes. At least with Red Steel they were repetitive swings of your Wiimote. As far as Redsteel not being a good game, I have to disagree. I have fired it up a few times since I beat it way back when. I had fun with it. The best level was the funhouse. If the entire game had been that much fun it would have been a classic. The biggest glaring weakness of the game was the sniping. That was in fact horrible. Otherwise it was an above average shooter.

why do people say it was generic rehash? it wasnt at all

i still had fun with the game, if they fix the flaws then the sequel does have potential
