Forums - Nintendo - Wii and DS games having the worst storylines?

If you ask me, I find Sonic games to have far too complex plots than is needed these days. I'm looking at you, Sonic 2006!

Sonic games don't need complex stories.  JRPGs on the other hand, are story driven and as a result need more complex stories(not saying that stories in JRPGs can't be simple).

Sonic games are not meant for complex narritives while JRPGs have complex narritives to motivate players to play through them.

I didn't say all of them but some do have complex stories

Either way, certain games IMO, have excessive story lines, especially adventure games and platformers. Back in the day, all they need is a short "story" in the game's manual and that already set the tone for the whole thing.

The Ace Attorney-games beat out all other games, pretty much. Storywise, I mean.

i love games with great storylines.

nintendo only have 1: zelda.

I think we are being over picky considering good storylines in games are hard to find. Usually if games have a good storyline they are are far from being complex. It's hard to find a video game that has a complex storyline. Mainly because in most games there is hardly a use of emotional and character development. Usually your leading character and supporting are stagnant. Developing characters is a key part to complexity of storylines which is just not apparent in gaming.

Actually I feel if the Zelda timeline is actually connected then that would be the most complex story of them all considering its hard just to connect them haha. But I think people need to realize your not going to get movie and novel quality stories out of a game because these devs aren't focused on what it takes to get those kind of stories.

I agree, Wii minigames really need thirty minute cutscenes between them.

That'll make'em more hardcore.

Fire Emblem? Golden Sun? Monolith Soft games?(soma bringer, Disaster)

The Metroid series has some of the best storytelling in the history of the medium, though by that I am mostly referring to the Prime games.
