I think we are being over picky considering good storylines in games are hard to find. Usually if games have a good storyline they are are far from being complex. It's hard to find a video game that has a complex storyline. Mainly because in most games there is hardly a use of emotional and character development. Usually your leading character and supporting are stagnant. Developing characters is a key part to complexity of storylines which is just not apparent in gaming.
Actually I feel if the Zelda timeline is actually connected then that would be the most complex story of them all considering its hard just to connect them haha. But I think people need to realize your not going to get movie and novel quality stories out of a game because these devs aren't focused on what it takes to get those kind of stories.
