Put the PS3 at $250 and it would sell over 10mil per month.

God I hate that argument more than any and you truly show how much of a complete idiot you are for even bringing it up.  What if the PS3 was $200!?  OMG it would outsell the DS!! Likeomgtotallyroflol!!!!!!!!!

I don't think sony had a problem keeping the channel full when the PS2 was selling that much.

Or maybe Nintendo is just running out of Duct tape to attach the two gamecubes together :P Get with the program here Nintendo its not that hard to make 7 year old systems :D

I'm just screwing with you Nintendo fans, but with that stuff aside i still don't see how Nintendo cannot boost sales to meet demand. Is it really that hard to boost sales after 8months on the shelf. Is there some sort of special device that they can't keep in supply or what?

Just one more question for you wii owners, i have heard that you guys can download all the old NES and SNES game or atleast some of them anyways, but you guys don't have a hard drive, so where are all the games stored once you download them. Do you buy memory cards/SD cards or whatever they are called. And how much do these games cost, is it $2-$5 or are we talking about more?

Thanks for the help guys.

The PS2 never had sales this good at the same point in their lifetime. And by the way could you please inform as to whether my Wii plays like a 2 gamecubes or 1 N64?  You have compared it to both so I guess I am just confused, maybe it would help if you wipe the foam off your mouth onto your sleave?

PS - You know so much about supply chain management and can obviously spot the mistakes Nintendo is making perhaps you should offer them your services? I'm sure they pay well with all the money they are making at the moment. I even got you a link! Just follow this link and you can find a great job at Nintendo and show us all what changes you have in mind!

More people buy hotdogs over steak that doesn't mean its better, people buy the wii because it is cheap. Put the PS3 at $250 and it would sell over 10mil per month. I hope you guys enjoy your 64 style graphics.

This is an excellent analogy.

Steak is expensive,  is often tough to chew, and you have to go to a bunch of trouble to roll out your grill to make it properly which usually means it isn't worth the hassle!

Hotdogs are (relatively) cheap to buy, tastey as hell, and everyone loves them! Plus they really can't be any easier to prepare, and you will never find yourself chewing on the grissle of a hotdog.

I'm sure thats not what you were going for, but my point actually has nothing to do with the Wii or the PS3.  I have nothing against the PS3 at all actually. My point has to do with people who can't help but smother as much BS as they can on top of every factoid they come across to get others to believe what they do.  And in true fanboy fassion they even step up the reteroic a notch when confronted with reality (see how he says the Wii is N64 graphics rather than GC?).  You and leo-j just keep on shrieking louder and louder hoping that someone will listen to what you have to say.

After you guys are done chewing steak and downing hot dogs, you can finish off with a nice warm piece of pumpkin pie. Or sometimes I like to switch it up and go for a piece of cheesecake. I'm not sure if my post relates to the original post.

Since I didn't see this answered any where else: yes, the Wii has some internal flash memory, though I forget how much off the top of my head since they still use the silly block system.  Whatever it is, it seems like enough for VC games since I have about 2 pages of them and I'm still well over 1000 blocks of memory.  As for the price, I *think* it's in the range of $4-8 depending on the system, though I could be off on that.  I haven't bought a VC game in a while (not due to lack of interest, there are plenty of games I'm eyeing, just due mainly to lack of time to play them).

Well, first thing first, I will buy a PS3 if the price comes down to say USD 200 - 250 range. I am a casual game player but I do like to watch high definition video.

My interest in Nintendo Wii is not just because I am a video game player, but also because I am an investor. I do own Nintendo shares and its value has doubled in one year!! When I saw Wii's ad one year ago, it was no doubt in my mind that it will change the video game industry. I do put money where my month is. I bought Nintendo stock!!

It is not how well they sell that interests me, it is how much profit they are making that interests me. Sony and Microsoft have good products but they are selling at a lose. The way I see it, Nitendo created a machine that's not only fun to play, it also practically PRINTS MONEY.

Now that's a dame good products.

But you all are missing the point here. You can't keep your steaks and/or hotdogs in your living room next to your TV. Unless, of course, you somehow like the smell of rotten meat.

On the other hand, if you have a fish tank and put some crabs in there, they won't go stinking your house.

And no, you don't want to keep a live cow in your living room.

Clearly, crab is better than steak and hotdog.

Isn't it strange when people say what if the PS3 was 250$? I mean if the PS3 was 250, then obviously it couldn't have a hard drive, bluetooth, HDMI and many other things. Yes if a ferrari is 100 bucks it will sell good, but do you expect a 100 dollars ferrari to be any good?

This thread could not be funnier

I would make some responses to some of the posts here (namely from ps3owner), but it seems people have pretty clearly outlined everything i would want to say..

O PS3 owner your so silly..........

Just to be clear, the hotdog/steak analogy is not what I believe about the PS3/Wii situation. It was just to illustrate that you can take an analogy and twist it any number of ways. Ultimately I recognize that the Wii is aimed at a slightly different, yet still overlapping, demographic to that of the PS3/360. My sarcasm toward PS3Owner was mostly due to his comments about how he felt Nintendo had handled their supply chain.

I am by no means an expert on the subject but I happen to have a small bit of first hand knowledge at the intricate complexities of supply chain management. It is no small task to get a new factory online, or to to boost the production capacity of a given plant. You have to deal with everything from the extra space, new employees, building and fire regulations which require you to wait sometimes weeks for inspectors to give the ok to go ahead, suppliers need to be given fair warning of increased order size, shipping logistics need to be re-evaluated at every single point of the supply chain (HUGE task), and you need to get your retailers involved in most of the latter stages when it comes to the logistics of moving this many units you need both sides on the same page. There is actually more to it then that but that is just a taste.

Macro Supply Chain Management is not quick, and it is most certainly not easy.
