New hardware = Wii Zapper, Wii Wheel, Wii Balance Board. no hard drive, again as I predicted ;)

i think the rifle design will be comfy for fps. This should somewhat force the nunchuk to stay upright and could use its motion sensing in gameplay. Such as leaning sideway to shoot behind cover.
and the crappy looking design is probably to shut the press up about how realistic the game could get to being a murder simulator. (my 3 yrs old nephew has a more realistic toy gun than that).
my problem is, where you point the wii remote is NOT always where your cursor shows up, if anyones ever tested it
it depends on where you sit / where the sensor bar is. if you are to the side, the cursor is always in the wrong spot.

I know what you mean, but that's probably something that can be solved through calibration. Just be careful not to move the bar afterwards.

Well, the Wii itself doesn't have any calibration for pointer location relative to where the remote is actually pointing. This would have to be a function programmed in each software title. Twilight Princes actually had a crude calibration function, but all it did was adjust the elevation of the pointer and tell you if you were at the ideal distance form the screen or not.
But another issue is that the pictured device doesn't even have a sight on it. So you're not going to be looking down the gun to aim. There will always have to be a reticule on-screen to show you where you're aiming.
I think this actually goes againt the pick-up-n-play philosophy that Nintendo trying to promulgate. If you're playing a game with a gun, you expect to use a sight on the gun to aim it at the screen. You can't do that with this Zapper. I have a feeling this peripheral will have the same fate as the Virtual Boy. Or, at the very least, I know I'm not buying one.
I'm really not sure how much this will add to most games. Although I'm sure that it won't hurt during games designed to work with it. My main problem though is how it locks the nunchuck and wiimote together. Does this mean it won't work with games that have nunchuck motions as gameplay elements? I'd really like to see how many games will work well with this.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
$20 bucks... of which like $18 is gonna be gross profit, after factoring in transportation costs.
they had better package software with it. but wait, it's probably only gonna be Wii Play quality. Wii Shoot? Wii Hunt? Wii Bang? probably not Wii Bang...
say wholesale is $14, that's still like 85% margin.
if the software is duck hunt... it'll sell 10 million copies.
which is a sickening profit for something as gimmicky as this wii zapper. i need to try it out though when it comes out... whatever software it comes bundled with. i'm a fan of the "Wii something" like. or maybe it really does add an additional layer of game play experience, in which case $20 would be totally worth it.
the Wii is an epidemic.
Is it just me or does it look like the starship Enterprise without the saucer section?
I think they should make an Enterprise mod by adding a saucer
I don't know...It looks kinda awkward. The trigger hand and holding hand should be reversed. I think I will actually prefer holding the wiimote and nunchuk separately. I would rather have the handgun holder that was shown in concept art previously.
Nothing is stopping Other manufacturers from making their own version of the "zapper" shell
or making a new controller for FPS's shaped like a gun/rifle
i agree though holding this is ass backwards for "guns"(shotgun/rifle)
forward hand is for stabilization, back hand is for trigger... looks fun though on seeing the video
