For the router, Wireless G is the way to go. Wii doesn't support N, and B is slow as dirt. I recommend any Linksys or DLink products that support G. You CAN use an N router, but as seeing you're only using wireless for your Wii, there's no reason to shell out the extra bucks for the tech.

My fav Wii accessory is the Nyko Perfect Shot. It is a $12 handgun shell that looks like a white 9 millimeter gun. You stick your Wiimote on top and plug in the nunchuck underneath. Makes fora great experience while playing shooter games, especially on-rail games

No, the Wii, PS3 and the wireless adapter for the 360 uses G, BUT, the G and N are only for data transfer speed.

If he buy a wireless N, the Wii will only transfer speed at G speeds, BUT the router will still have a much larger coverage.

How can a N-router improve range to G devices since the standard has not changed?  I guess a N-router with 3 antennas might have a larger range since most G-routers had 1 or 2 antennas.  Is there another reason?

Some sort of a battery recharge solution is absolutely necessary.

I use the rayovac hybrid batteries (since they work for all remotes in my house)....but you'll have to see what works for you.

This is absolutely necessary.

I use this

They actually perform better than my Enegizer batteries, and I think its better than the Nyco station because you can use them anywhere. Also the price is pretty good.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

You're absolutely right, Fernando. I was assuming that the router wouldn't be far from the Wii, granted that it wouldn't be used for anything else. Yet, that all depends on where the incoming drop is for the cable/dsl/ into the house. I have a wireless N router but my Wii is MAYBE 3 feet away from it. Its more used for my computer and my roommates' computers.

well you will need a 1gig sd card at least should be about £15 now

plug and charge is a must i got mine for £9.99

and it would also be a good idea to buy the browser as you will find it usefull for youtubing or checking vgcharts, plus ebay transaction work very well with wii opera browser, i think my browser was roghly £6 in wii points

so a quick £31 spend should get you going.

even with the above costs its still good value which makes it a whopping £90 cheaper than ps3.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I purchased a Wii and bought a few accessories:
- Wii Play (bundled with the Wii & needed a second Wiimote anyway)
- Nunchuck
- Wii Zapper (only $10 and I'm still not sure if it was worth it. I got it for Link's Crossbow training. The zapper fells very goofy and will get something like the Nyko Perfect Shot if I want to play anymore on-rail games)
- Component cables ($5 cables from Monoprice seem to working fine)

Toys 'R Us Canada has a 25% off sale on accessories this week so I might pick something else up. 2000 Wii points for $15 looks interesting, however, I still do not have my wireless router making the points useless for now.

I recommend against D-Stink. Their drivers are POS's.

Linksys is good though.

Edit:  Whoa, holy thread necro.

Why would I use drivers for a router? Or do you mean firmware?

And yes I necro'ed my own thread.
