Move to Syracuse, then you'll only get 63 full days of sun per year. Not only that, Syracuse can usualy claim to be the snowiest city >35k population in the US. |
Interstingly enough I think Galveston was originally destroyerd by a tropical storm in 1906 or something. A lot of what we knoe about them today came from that incident.

I really hope the reports of 20k people left in Galveston are overblown. I can't believe that many people would stay, especially when there was already flooding yesterday afternoon.
Anyways, I'm in Houston. Not much has happened yet, just some wind and the occasional gust.

It was 1900 and a Category 4 hurricane. Still one of the worst storms in terms of lives lost I believe. All the more reason I can't believe people are staying. Everyone in Galveston knows what happened in 1900. Sure there is a Seawall now, but Ike will still be devestating.
cool! Nice work Yakuzaice! Thanks.

Apparently KPRC has already lost power, and is running on generator power. Kind of surprised. They are pretty close to me, and not much has happened yet. But all it takes is one random tree.
my cousins live in baytown which is in the way of this storm i hope they make it out alright
Power is out in most of my area now, including my house. I just called and phone didn't work. I have a near-dead oak in my front yard, and I'm really hoping it doesn't fall and hit my bedroom right now. To all of you that are camping out, good luck. You will need it.
