It's now less than 1 million behind lifetime sales of the Nintendo 64. I really loved the N64, I thought it was WAY better than PS1, but I was in the minority. I guess it's partly because I have a passion for cartridge based games, playing them since I was 5! I just had a hard time getting into the disc format for gaming, and even though TG-16 was the first to go disc, Neo Geo, and others became dedicated CD consoles. Who knows what Sega was thinking during the whole Sega CD lifetime- a CD based Genesis??? Then, they come out with 32-X, CARTRIDGE again??? Well, now Nintendo is disc based, and their number one system will eventually be the Wii. I predict it will pass the NES' 62 million total sometime in 2010. It will probably finish this year at 40 million, reach 50 million sometime next year, be about 60 million at the end of 2009, finally passing Nintendo's most loved system in 2010. It will be an awesome comeback, but the Wii and the DS will be AMAZING in lifetime sales, blowing away even Nintendo of the 80's!!!
30-someting now, 40-something next decade!
