Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.

It wouldn't sell as much as the Wii for more than 1 week, Crazzy, and it would also lose many sales in the weeks leading up to the price drop as the price-drop itself gets leaked.

Posts about the PS3 would outsell the 360 if it sold for $299 are becoming tiring. It includes blu-ray and wi-fi (which is great) but it was designed to offer more at a higher cost. Of course it would be better value than the 360 if the retailed at the same price. The Wii is the only console to have cracked it. It remains the must buy console for the majority and is perceived as good value, whilst selling at considerably more profit than the 360 or the PS3. As someone else intimated; if all consoles retalied at a common price point, I think the Wii would still come out on top.

With GoW3, KZ2, FFXIII, Infamous, Tekken 6, Heavy Rain, Team Ico games, GT5 and etc.
again, WHY it wouldn`t ?

The games defines value of console. So far, PS3 only got very few games from it`s library.

MGS4 helped ps3 to outsell x360 for 2 months without any pricecuts, just one bundle was enough.

The 360 has sold 100k a week before, many times. At 200 bucks, i expect 200k.

The weekly surge will be far less interesting than the 360's new baseline. The real effect of the pricedrop will be more apparent a month from now.

Most likely. If 360 can beat PS3 in August without any drop then Sony is in trouble for the US.

However, Microsoft still has to worry about Japan and EU. I think they'll pick up slack in Japan with the recent price drop, but not EU.

 

Next year the lead for PS3 yearly is going to be smaller unless Sony does another price drop, and I'm sure next Sept MS will price drop again to counteract. People will buy the cheaper system.
