Most likely. If 360 can beat PS3 in August without any drop then Sony is in trouble for the US.
However, Microsoft still has to worry about Japan and EU. I think they'll pick up slack in Japan with the recent price drop, but not EU.
Next year the lead for PS3 yearly is going to be smaller unless Sony does another price drop, and I'm sure next Sept MS will price drop again to counteract. People will buy the cheaper system.
It's just that simple.
