Forums - Sales - Little Big Planet Versus Fable 2

Little Big Planet will be the best new platformer due to its innovation and level editor making unlimited possibilities for the gamer. It will attract both hardcore and casual gamers alike.

The co-op mode in Fable 2 will be terrible. I doubt Fable 2 will be as good as Fable 1.

Even though it isn't apparent that much on these forums, there is a good amount of PS3 players who also own a PC (almost every PS3/360 gamer that I know is also a PC gamer). To them LBP's editor is absolutely nothing new due to the fact they have had access to better and more flexible editor for many many years now. SPORE is the most recent example of a game that has an editor which blows LBP's out of the water and if they want to create stuff they can either play that or just make mods for UT,HL2,WC3, and many others. Meanwhile they won't be able to get the Fable 2 experience out of a PC as fully, there haven't been that many co-op RPGs which you can be in the same room as your friend.

You also fail to tell me why exactly LBP would attract hardcore gamers, platformers are extremely casual, and editors for casual games are even more casual than the game itself. I really don't see the hardcore gamers liking the game too much. I love the premise of the game, but that's my casual side talking, my hardcore side wants to beat me over the head for admiting that.

How come you know Spore's editor "blows LBP out of the water" ? Did you play both games?

Btw you seem to totally dismiss, that LBPs editor has a very intuitive interface and combined with the abilities to use it with 4 people, to play the stages while you create them and to just have fun with each other (with the emotion system, with physics, with slapping, ...) while creating a stage makes it much less "work" and much more of a "game", which in my opinion is the great innovation LBP has.

The innovation is not that it has an editor, but that this editor is integrated in the game in a way that it's actually a game by itself to use this editor.

And that is exactly the point why hardcores and casuals alike will love this game.

I think many ppl underestimate LBP. I cant see the game fail. I just can't. I think it will be one of the best selling ps3 games. But we will see soon

Great joke my friend, Fable 2 > LBP

FAIL just HUGE FAIL. core gamers won't buy a 400$ console for this game and casual gamers won't buy a 400$ console for this game either.

- 200$ console with extra 5 games vs. 400$ console without any game,
- both consoles have similar line-up of multiplatform and exclusive games for the rest of 2008,
you do the math.

fable 2>LBP.

Not a single one of those appealing bits can be called hardcore, in fact what has been done is that LBP is a casual creator too, intuitive, does not require much knowledge outside of point and click, it even has easy access of just about everythign with radial menus. All those are creat additions and it makes it probably the most expansive editor on a console so far. My main argument is that the game does not have the depth of a hardcore game. Honestly, how long do you think the whole slapping and emotions thing will last? It's a gimmick and if you want to be doing things like that go join Second Life, you can even make csutom animations and stuff with it for your character. The meat and potatoes of the game is the editor and the sharing of stages.

As for the fact that LBP's editor is quite primitive. Yes I have played SPORE and I have seen enough of LBP to know that both games are surprisingly similar. Both have you play the game and create stuff and then a massive database for sharing. The thing is that in SPORE you directly make your own creature and through some badass AI programming they will do everything a normal creature which was build like that will do like eating, walking/crawling, waving, etc. Meanwhile LBP is a level editor, yes it's pretty accessible and simple to use, but it is not all that flexible in comparison to any other level editors out there for some of the games. But I will admit SPORE and LBP seem very similar as they stand.

For hardcore WRPG fans
Fable 2 >>> LBP

For casuals, kids and ps3 fanboys
LBP >>> Fable 2

For me LBP has the same problem as Viva Pinata. Yes, sack boy is cute (just as pinatas). Yes, its offer cute colorful world (just like Viva Pinata). Yes, its has a new and innovative gameplay (just like VP).So what? Its look kiddish! I'm 30 years old male, you can't tempt me with little sack boys and a platform game. The biggest audience for such kind of games are on Nintendo console. Anyway I still think LBP can sold more then Fable 2, cos casuals, kids and ps3 fanboys are > then 360 WRPG fans.

NOT TRUE. thanks to ridiculous price of ps3, sony console doesn't have kids nor casual gamers. and casual gamers will not buy overpriced console for one game and BD player when they can buy same console and multimedia device with 5 games for half ps3 price and they can buy wii for 250$.

besides oblivion and mass effect each sold more than 2mln copies on 360 so far and first fable sold 2.6mln on xbox.

LBP will be milion seller but it will sell similar or even worse than first viva pinata on 360 thanks to no casual gamers and kids on ps3 while fable 2 should hit at least 2mln mark especially since this game is exclusive for 360, is from established IP and will be hyped pretty hard by microsoft.

LBP will win obviously. Starcraft wont agree i guess....

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
