I actually expect huge NA numbers for the 360. Somewhere in the region of 110-130k.

So I'd say the 360 will take this week, and maybe the following two weeks as well.

Then it should settle down for a few weeks in the 60-70k range, keeping it competitive with the PS3.

One things for certain if Ps3 still outsells the xbox week after week this price drop was a failure.

 

 Overally american sales wont double because it's only 1 day with the price cut.

I think you give to much credit to LBP and SOCOM... as for racers Dirt is better than Motostrom by a long shot and Resistance is a better game then SOCOM.

(edit)  I will put in for PS3 getting hammered in number by the Wii and 360 this holiday... None of those games are system sellers and the price isn't where is should be... 360 should post Wii-like numbers this holiday season.

And.. You have caught my attention. Without even glancing to the left I already know that your post count/ knowledge is low. Opinions are one thing, but you fail to realize so many things.

First of all 360 stands no shot in Europe, was that a typo? You would know this because the sales are actually shown week by week on the front page. Also there was only a 360 price cut in America. The Euro-cut already happened and the 360 has been priced under the wii for some time there - only to still get continuously destroyed by the PS3 week after week. Europe alone gives an advantage of ~50,000 to sony in recent weeks.

Even in NA, (North America) where the 360 used to be king, the PS3 now reigns supreme. In NA, the 360 will get large boosts for a short period of time. (because of the price cut) But the sad fact is that will only be bringing it up to par for a short time WW (world wide).

PS3 Sales since Christmas of last year would disagree with your analysis.

Also, whether it is Socom or Resistance, both are PS exclusive, and Dirt is a multi-plat (multiple platform game).

So things that could help a pro 360 argument in your case would be Gears 2 and a price cut in NA.

But we know how the price cut will turn out eventually, since we have a direct example of the same price cut happening in Europe months ago. Bad.

I think PS3 will edge out the 360 this week. Next 2 weeks after, the 360 should outsell the PS3. Lets hope for Microsofts sake, that it does.. otherwise what was the point.

 

Gears 2 will likely move as many units in it's first week then all but Resistance 2 move for the rest of the year.  Dirt is still a better racer than MotoStorm regaurdless of multipul console release and I am well aware of the PS3's advantage in Europe.  The PS3's crown is gone in the US and it's likely to stay that way until their next big release... also I don't think anything comming out... or everything together will give the increase that MGS4 gave.  I think with the price cut and several big games comming out on the 360 like Fable 2 and Gears 2 as well as the GTA4 DLC the console will likely jump well ahead of the PS3 in the US.  I think LBP is a great idea that has the legs of a 2 year old child... good numbers at first and then spluttering out much like Metroid did on the Wii.  Where do I get all these ideas?  I work at Walmart and I can catch the trends... I saw the PS3 doing big sales and now I see them sitting on shelves and now 360 are moving at a really good clip.  I call the US's Holiday in Microsoft's favor... I just don't have faith that anything but Resistance 2 can move consoles. I could be wrong, but that's how I see things... SOCOM and MotoStorm are titles that appeal really to only current owners.

 

BTW I'm not saying you're wrong or that I'm right... but your comment tried to put me in some kind of negetive light... that was uncalled for... I did nothing that should have provoked that.
