To me, both Sony and Nintendo won this. Different audiencies, but both very exciting. I lean more on Nin, but that's totally personal taste. I'm just not very much into action stuff (shoot, slice, blow, race...).

I'll give it a A- cause only 1 real new game announced, but the exclusives they bought and the Killzone meeting hype and MGS 4 trailer seal the deal.
Sony won GDC and E3 and that is a fact at this point.

| naznatips said: Overall grade, B+. The best conference, but still disappointing. The MGS4 trailer was good and Killzone 2 looks good (other than some major early graphical issues, but those should be fixed) but overall not very interesting as he goes through PSP game after PSP game that no one cares about then tons of non-exclusive PS3 games. I was very bored with E3 this year. Hopefully 3rd parties show something good. |
Pretty much agree, Killzone and MGS4 were nice, wasn't really impressed with the rest of it. Unlike Ninty they went totally for the hardcore gamer
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
Also Unreal Tournament is guaranteed to be a lot better looking than Gears and faster paced with more going on in the game at the same time.

Well I'd give Sony a B-, Nintendo a B to B+, and MS a D. I understand if you're a Sony fan or FPS/sports/racing fan you would rate higher but I'm not. Even so I can see those were big games but Sony is simply too far behind to say look at the great games and graphics, buy a PS3. Other than Infamous and PSP Lite no major announcements. However, like MS, Sony still seems to have no idea why they are getting owned in console sales by Nintendo. Anyways, not the best E3 thats for certain.
Ok, so PS3 concedes 2007 because they only have Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Socom, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Folklore, Singstar, Unreal Tournament 3, Haze, among others.
Nintendo has Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Brawl, Boogie, and not much else I can think of that is that interesting.
MS has a good lineup, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, proabably some more I am forgetting.
Sony had the best show, then probably Nintendo (minus all of the mindless Wii casual promotion), and then MS because nothing was that enticing that wasn't already there.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
Infamous looked intriguing, but yet another movie trailer. I must be the only person getting sick of those. I'll judge when I can see actual gameplay. Killzone, visually was stunning, but it's another shooter. Not a lot we haven't seen before. These games are starting to get repetitive and that goes for all consoles. Same for Uncharted, although hopefully they'll put in some exploring or puzzle solving in there or SOMETHING to change up the monotony of just shooting shit.
Overall, I liked Sony's conference best, but that's not saying a whole lot. Disappointing e3 this year.
Current systems owned: Wii, 360. I'll get a PS3 when hell freezes over!... or when the price drops to a reasonable level. Whichever comes first.
Sounds like Sony got a solid B+ due to a strong MGS4 and Killzone showing, as well as timed exclusives for Haze and UT3, and honorable mention of LBP.
I wanna see this Infamous game you guys are talking about, if it looks better than Crackdown, that would be sweet.
