Folklore - Great story, can get boring. If you found games like Kingdom Hearts boring you will find this boring.

Resistance - Best game on that list. It is worth 29.99 right now and is one of the better titles ps3 offers.

Motorstorm - Just no, just walk away. This was fun for like 20 minutes before I was like meh.

I rented two of the above, and played one at a friends house.

Heads = Resistance. Tails = Motor Storm.
Both are great games for $30.

Resistance - I felt the single player was boring. Too slow paced and it has an uninteresting character. The story is good though. Multiplayer is pretty fun, but you might want to wait for R2.

Motorstorm - never played it.

Folklore - It's a pretty good game. The story is great, and the way it presents it is well done. Capturing different folks is fun, and it uses the sixaxis well. The game does get repetitive with those two 'campaigns'. Also the game loses its magic the second time you play it.

Get Ratchet & Clank Future or Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

If you enjoyed Civilization and wanted a quicker and simpler version of it you could try Civilization Revolution

Resistance, though it will be soon superseded

The issue with MS, while it was an incredible game, there are just a few issues, which have been solved in 2, making that an hugely better game, so I do not think it is worth getting MS 1

Definitely get Resistance: Fall of Man. It should get you ready for Resistance 2 and it's jsut a great game anyways. It will take a long time to beat as it's pretty long for an FPS...has something like 30 levels iirc and should last you 20+ hours.

Ok, so I am seeing a pattern here that most people would pass on Motorstorm1.
Folklore is a good game with a good story but can get boring with 2 "campaigns" Resistance is a good FPS and has a good story and will set me up for the next one and Ratchet and Clank being a great game to get.

A lot to think about, I will probably be buying something tomorrow. If I like the N64 Banjo games is that comparable to Ratchet (at least in gameplay, I have seen the 2 games compared)?

Resistance...easy. If for no other reason than to get you semi-comfortable with controls, weapons and gameplay for resistance 2.

theyve got some similar basic platforming elements, and a sidekicked strapped to their back and unique art styles.  not really too similar overall, but i enjoyed both.
