I think this is a price point that causes some PS3 users to jump into the multiplatform fun like many 360 owners did with the MGS4 pack... RIP backwards compatibility... it was nice knowing you

I wonder how much of the sales surge was pent-up demand since people knew it was coming (it had been rumored for weeks).

That being said, the 60G model at $300 is a good value -- and apparently a reliable model.

I'll wait and see...I think the REAL sales bump will come in about 2 month, as the holiday shopping kicks into high gear...THEN...I'll go out on a limb and say 360 challenges Wii...maybe not topping it, but definitely closer than things have been.

This will only last for a few weeks. Sony will cut the price of the PS2.

GameStop is just one retailer of video games. I'll wait for next week's NPD.

There will be an increase no doubt. Due to the economy a lot of shoppers in America are more price conscious now a days. That said I don't think it will be a huge increase, I think it will probably be even with PS3 numbers in NA in the short-term. However, I think that during the holidays this will help boost sales of the 360 higher than their normal holiday boost.
