Ah, I see... and he's popular in Western-USA, particularly Montana? So he could be taking votes away from the other two guys.
I take it McCain would lose out more than Obama as a McCain supporter is much more likely to be a RP supporter.
Im not sure how Ron Paul would help Obama. He's pretty radical, and more liberals would vote for him, taking votes from Obama, no?
Mccain supporters aren't necesarily Ron Paul supporters.
If you divided politics in the USA into four corners on a sheet of paper, with the top being completely authoritarian government, and the bottom being anarchy, the left being socialism (redistribution of all wealth) and the right being pure capitalism (everything is competitive, no pensions, welfare, etc)...Mccain would be in the top right corner (Authoritarian right), but a smidge left of Bush. Obama is to the left and down of Mccain, on the bottom right corner in the top left segment (Authoritarian Left). Paul is kind of in the middle of the bottom right (Libertarian Right).
I like Obama and Paul because I'm in the Libertarian Left (bottom left), so Obama and Paul are both only a box away from where I am.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian. Libertarians are most often found in the Republican party. Right now this would make him kind of like a Republican Ralph Nader.
So Source, did this just happen (his gettin on the ballot)? and if so, is there a chance he could get on the ballot in other states as well?
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
yup, some republicans don't like McCain because they feel he is too moderate. Since Paul is basically Libertarian, he will get the extreme, almost anarchist-ish vote. Most of these people tend to live in the backwoods of Montana and Texas.
note: I consider myself pretty much libertarian, so I am not being a jerk to them when I say anarchist.

I was aware of the four-corner layout, but I was under the impression that Ron Paul was extreme right, and sort of half way up the "Authortarian" quadrant.
Either way, he would lay closer to McCain then Obama, wouldn't he?
EDIT:

It appears Ron Paul is indeed closer to Obama then McCain. You learn something new everyday.
the thing with libertarians is that we are so conservative we sometimes appear to be liberal
ugh, we shouldn't drive too far down the simple left right dichotomy. Libertarianism isn't just a more extreme form of the Republican parties more prominent ideologies. It's something quite different. But the two do tend to end up in the same party.
Outside of protest votes, the very nature of being a one state third candidate will eliminate much of his support, but if he gets on the ballot in a couple more states, we might just see a bit of a Ron Paul Revival. Finally something to make this election interesting on the democracy side.

Hes on the Louisiana ballot too I think.
I don't really consider that graphic too accurate...it makes Mccain look like a fascist and Obama look like has different positions on economics. I'd shift everything down and to the left a bit on that
