Forums - Microsoft - Can any MS fan explain this video? I am beyond baffled

Hey, if it isn't impulsivity pushing his agenda. Keep grinding that axe, someday it'll be sharp.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I don't get it....

What Seinfeld SHOULD have been saying was "So what's the DEAL with these Apple guys? No, seriously, I mean, they (random insult toward Apple) and they (point out a small flaw with their computers), while Microsoft's PCs blablabla! I just don't get it!"

He is more likely to say: What's with Vista?? I click on a program, it's asking me are you sure you want to run this program?? YES I cllcked on it! but maybe Vista knew I didn't actually wanted to click on it so it warned me... so I didn't do it... George: So you didn't do it?? Jerry: nooo.. but I was tempted..

No PS3 is better talk, no debating the consoles or anything like that.  I am just seriously curious as to what any of you more in tune with the MS brand think this could possibly be for.  I mean its a little like the Mac vs PC commercials (in that its two guys talking ) but there's no clear message like in the mac/PC commercials (that message being Macs are cool, Dorks use PCs and vista doesn't work).  On the other hand if my computer did produce cake if I loaded MS software on it, I'd seriously consider the purchase (see the end of the commercial).

Any thoughts as to the goal?

Oh and this campaign cost 300 million to run...THREE HUNDRED MILLION!!! so there had to a be a point somewhere, thats more then 95% of companies make in an entire year of sales.

As you said, it's an ad campaign.  There are sure to be other commercials to follow this one, and maybe they will make more sense.  Let's just wait and see, shall we?

It's an ad--ABOUT NOTHING. Guessing some VG members don't get that line. There was an article that said that they were gay, (tight shoes, shower, butt wiggle, etc.)

this advert was boring. so many sites have considered this add a failure. Jerry Seinfeld isn't have as funny as he should be :s Major Fail!

I thought it was funny, but that's about it. Perhaps that's what they're aiming for? If you buy vista you'll laugh...(I cried)

If anything can reduce a grown man to tears its trying to get Vista to run correctly.  I get MORE blue screens of death (the RAM dump before a crash is blue on Vista) then I ever imagined getting on XP.  It's like evolution in reverse, Darwin would be baffled.

"What's the deal with reverse evolution in Vista?"

I also got the blue screen of death today. On my Gamecube.

What happened?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
Huh. Erm. (10 minutes of throaty noises as I try to make sense of what I have just seen)

Eureka! I've got it!! Somebody is about to get FIRED!

I compare M$/Apple competition to Coke/Pepsi.

Pepsi spends all of its commercial time downing Coke while Coke doesn't care and just makes some crazy CGI commercials.

Seinfeld in this commercial goes along with that whole 'it is about nothing' concept. I find the commercial intriguing.

If MS pulled a pepsi and had a video of Britney Spears...or I guess in these days Jessica Alba dancing half naked singing as their commerical leading up to a 360 exploding in red white and blue stars I would find that it makes more sense then this one did.

Maybe they're still trying to make Bill Gates more likable after those videos of him testifying during the monopoly hearings?  Even still....300 million is a LOT of money even by Pepsi/Coke standards.

It kinda works, the Pepsi thing, Pepsi makes more money worldwide then coke now by a pretty healthy margin.

Thx for posting that, while PepsiCo. does have higher gross revenue overall Coke is the more profitable of the two. Not to mention that PepsiCo. also has alot of revenue coming in from nonbeverage areas (frito-lay, Quaker) that most consumers dont even link with the PepsiCo. brand.

they produced a bad commercial so people is forced to discuss it and not forget it.

this is marketing people...

The shoe store is possibly a metaphor for PC's? "Quality PC's at discount prices"

Even if I'm off, I will say that it succeded in making me laugh.
