Ehh... I didn't understand why you made the question in the end. I believe Nintendo has big plans for online in the future and currently Virtual Console and WiiWare makes them money. Since there are a lot of Wiis offline, this is a way to promote the online features, like the Wi-Fi USB connector, which manufacturing was ended/is ending and this is for its replacement.

Have you tried to play Smash online with strangers? My wii never finds other players, but when I play COD4 online on my PS3 I can play instantly with others

That also happens to me too i pick a fighter join but ones else does, and the time ends its just me alone online in an arena waiting for other people and i get disconnected.

I think it's just Smash Bros. problem.

Mario Kart finds people immediately, and BWii finds people as soon as they are there (you can tell not many are online with BWii because you often get put with the same person again later, which never happens in MKWii)

so nintendo considers this more pressing than say... a hard drive solution?

Exactly how did you come to this conclusion?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Well, I think we all think that a hard drive is a more needed peripheral for the wii than a wireless router, right guys?

So exactly how does this mean they feel the Japan only router is more pressing?

Are you guys under the assumption that they haven't been working on the storage solution at all because of this?

^ Especially after Reggie and Iwata assumed the storage problem and talked about being working on solve it

Yeah, i have. But i don't think a Nintendo router is going to fix it. The Brawl online system is pretty much broken. They should have taken the same approach they did with Mario Kart.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

If They did just a Wii with router specifications included, it will be better. This thing takes place in your room and I don't like it.
Here in Belgium, when you take the Adsl, they give you already a router.

Brawl came out a few months before MK Wii, so it's likely they did what the did because of what happened with Brawl.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

@LordTheNightKnight: Of course not, but both of the games were in developement at the same time. I'm guessing they were testing different approaches with both of the games. Mario Kart approach turned out to be the better one.
Since it's pretty hard from time to time find gaming company in Brawl online, i would guess that people play a lot of friends matches.
