I think Fallout 3 will be the RPG for 2k8, but we have to wait and see.

You should play it if you get the chance. Believe me, it would compete even if there were some good jrpgs released to challenge it.

Yeah, those are pretty awesome. There must be quite a few of them, as I haven't yet seen that one after hundreds of battles.
I really dig the skits as well.

This is only true if you don't include the PSP, the DS or even the PS2 to a certain extent.

Yeah, I enjoyed this game more than The World Ends With You, FFIV, and Persona 3 FES(which I mentioned earlier), and everyone knows that I am a staunch advocate of all of those games.
I enjoyed it equally to Radiant Dawn, but that's not a JRPG, nor did it release this year.
I'm telling ya, anyone here who played or heard of a game called Tales of Symphonia, this game is like ToS, but better in nearly every way, including character development, which is very hard to believe, but true. It's really the best jrpg I've played in the last couple of years.
If you're a fan of the genre, this, right here, is the game you've been waiting for.

Well it wont be winning the awards, all the western judges will prefer western games. Anyway, it wont be winning any of my GOTY awards, because Namco Bandai couldn't be bothered to put it in Europe this year... I dont like cell shading anyway though
I am about the same place as mr.stickball (Keiv Moc) and am loving the game.
Having come from FFXII, a game that destroyed my faith in JRPG, this is amazing. There´s nothing ground-breaking about it, but they are done very well, and more importantly, you CARE ABOUT THE CHARACTERS, which is something that Square doesn´t seem to be able to do anymore.
I agree with Yuri being a good break from the usual androgynous male blond annoying kid.
P.S - I am too enjoying the hell out of the battle system. I´m 15 hours and there´s still new things to learn, bigger combos to try.
EDIT - @munkeh - I didn´t care about that anime style too, but am really enjoying in this game
