Forums - Sony - Should Bioshock PS3 be a budget title?

Port or no port... the game is pretty good from what Ive heard and the development cost seems to be pretty high, so IMO it deserves the full pricetag... anyways, sales will probably be lower then for the 360 version so it should drop fast in price :)

The bottom line is this! This is a port, whether it's crappy or not, it's a port. It wasn't in development when the game came out for the 360, so it's been decided once it came out for the 360 that they would make a PS3 version. Yes porting the game would cost money, but the majority of the development costs were for the 360 version and seeing as it sold nearly 2m copies, I reckon they'd have made their money back and then some.

I can afford this game if it comes out at full price, but I along with a fair few other next gen console owners are very picky on what games I pick up and cost is an factor in that as well.

Yes I would love to be able to get LittleBigPlanet, Force Unleashed, Resistance 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Bioshock in the next few months, but I have to be picky as all these games would cost me around £200 (yes nearly $400) and I just cannot justify spending this amount of cash on games. But if a game like Bioshock was released at a budget price, and I mean a truly budget price (looking at the reasoning above), then I would probably get it as it would be a no-brainer. But because of the cost of Next Gen games, I will probably only get Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Resistance 2.

Also, no matter how good Bioshock is for the PS3, I highly doubt it will sell much more than 500k lifetime.

Which precisely why the game won't be sold at a budget price. As it has been pointed out earlier, the game is available for a lower pice on PC and the 360. If a consumer hasn't netted one of those versions by now then the PS3 version is their only option, that fact makes a standard price more likely.

It should be cheaper, but i bet it wont be. Its a year old yes, but it cost a lot to port, and that money needs to be amde back to justify the port

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

i wouldnt buy it for 50. its already cheap on the 360, so if we just wait alittle while they'll lower the ps3 version's price too.

id buy it for around 30

It's not bad, but looks like Play reckons the RRP is £39.99....not exactly budget priced.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Its interesting, i guess you should argue whether RE 4 or TP wii should have been cheaper too?

Neither was i dont think

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'll get it but I'll wait until I can find it for 40 or less....

I'll most likely purchase this game but I'm not sure yet. A budget price would send me to the store immediately though.
